Resizing down a plain platinum solitaire - 6.75 to 3.5 too much?

I'd be grateful for opinions! I would check with my regular jeweller, but he's away until next week. The ring is just like this one (borrowed from Google images). Platinum, 2mm wide.

If it's a plain solitaire with a plain band I think it can be done... you just need to find a good bench

Are you replacing your EC?

Thanks all! My jeweller emailed me back, said it could be done but he wouldn't recommend as may compromise integrity, so decided against it.
