I have an heirloom channel set eternity band that I would like to use as my wedding band. The ring is a size 6, but I am a size 4. We have been told that this type of ring cannot be resized unless stones are removed or that it would be possible to place metal on the interior of the ring to make it a size 4 without removing stones/disrupting the structure of the ring.
I'm not eager to remove the stones because 1) I don't know what I would do with them and 2) it's an heirloom ring and I'm hesitant to do something that would make the ring unusable to later generations because it is too small and can't be made larger again. At the same time, I'm having a hard time envisioning how the ring will fit and sit with my engagement ring if we choose the other option because of the size difference.
I hate to separate the set, but I feel like the right choice might be to purchase a new ring. Has anyone had experience with resizing an eternity band smaller, especially the second option? Thanks in advance.
