Hey there! Another gorgeous day for us

We are providing our own liquor for our reception and alltho we have a local place in mind, would like to know if any of you have found/use a wholesale-type place that would be cheaper. I called our Sams Club inWarwick but they don''t carry liquor. And we don''t have a Costco that I know of, right?

Anyhow, we''d be willing to drive slightly over a border or two into MA or CT if that''s what we have to do but wanted to know any recommendations first.

Hey So_Happy,

Sorry, I don''t have any recommendations. My understanding is that because of the liquor laws in most of the northeast, basically only liquor stores can sell liquor.

Maybe you could drive to NH and use the state store? They are cheaper because there is no tax. And they are always right on the border, and right off the highway, so it wouldn''t be a really far drive.

I''ll definitely consider that! Do you happen to know what this place is actually called, though? I''d like to call to get hours and also run a mapquest query to find out how long of a drive it would be.

It''s called the NH State Liquor Stpre and there is one right over the border on I95 and I93. Also, you don''t have to buy Beer and Wine in liquor stores in NH so you might be able to find that stuff at BJs, Costco, or another place like that in NH.

So_Happy, are you in Warwick? That''s where I am. Well, I''m in Boston at the moment cause that''s where I work but I live off of Warwick Ave.

http://www.nh.gov/liquor/stores.shtml Here''s a map of the stores. The Salem one is probably closest to the border on 93.

They are run by the state of NH, so I don''t think they really have a name!

I know they have one right off of 95 N right after you cross the border into NH. They are rest stop style...literally right off the highway. We used to stop on our way up to Maine to ski. I don''t know what the diff in price was, but my parents always stopped there vs. buying at home, so it must be somewhat cheaper.

I found this website that may be of some help. http://www.nh.gov/liquor/stores.shtml

Wow, great! Thanks for the leads :) I''ll get to work on those later tonight. I''m in Narragansett and right now Wakefield Liquors is our best bet for delivery and returns. But I wanted to at least compare prices to see if the money I''d save would be worth the drive somewhere further away. I don''t know that I''ll find a place much cheaper and find that they''ll also deliver and take returns but I definitely wanted to try.

I know on Cape Cod we had a Kappys Liquor which was this huge warehouse-sized liquor store and they offered fantastic prices due to thier buying power. Since I don''t know of any liquor stores outside of my immediate area, I was also wondering if perhaps you know the name of a similar store so I could check them out.
