Ring or Pendant, which would you choose?

Hi Everyone,

I own a gemstone, that I removed from a ring which was then repolished due to wear and tear. It lost a minuscule amount of ct weight and is now sitting unloved. I am thinking of resetting it and knowing how the nicks and small chips drive me crazy, was thinking it may be prudent to reset it into a pendant. I am hesitant to reset the stone into a pendant as the only time I will see it would be when passing a mirror. I am open to any other setting ideas. I am thinking of the design below and replacing the orange stones in the halo to just diamonds and the outer orange stones to light pink stones, or using small paraba. If someone had better photo shop skills. :confused2: I am open to any suggestions, except bezel settings. The second setting I have no eye for how a red centre stone would work. I know I don't want anything red and green.

Pendant! I’ve something similar with the elaborate halo but with 8.81x6.36mm emerald - not sure what are the dimensions of your centerstone, created some quick mockups on phone!

Your emerald pendantis sublime. Great mockups also. Thank you.Do you mind me asking which vendor you purchased your pendant from please?

You could set it in a ring, depending on how tough the gemstone in question is and how rough you are on your jewellery. Basically any stone will accumulate chips and abrasions if worn long enough and bashed against objects many times. If you don't do that, and the stone isn't a particularly fragile one, a ring would still be a valid option.

I really like the pendant concepts you're considering. With a pendant that's sizeable like that, you'd have zero issues putting it on a chain that's just long enough to allow you to comfortably play with it and look at it while wearing it. One of the pendants I wear most is on a chain that's about 55cm long and I regularly use it as a fidget toy. So if you want a pendant, don't be dissuaded by not being able to see it without a mirror.

Omg so you bought it? It looks amazing on you!!!

Yes!! Thank you here’s more photos of how the layered diamond halo pendant design can look very different in different lightings by the metalwork - sometimes it looks like a cluster of stars, other times like lace!

The cluster of stars look surprised me IRL and got me sold on the design, and this could be a consideration point if leaning more towards the second setting!

Your pendant is stunning. I love how versatile it is. Does the chain have jump rings?

OP what is the gem?

It's a gorgeous emerald. It's amazing how the setting displays differently in different light. I love it. You've made me want an emerald now. PS is a bad place for distraction and wanting things you never thought you needed (wanted). ha

Thank you! It has no additional jump rings, just a ball slider that allows the length to be adjusted
