Should I look for whiter trillions? Or go down to FY?
Center is GIA M color no fluorescence. Sides are uncerted ‘K’ color from Israel. Jeweler louped and scoped them, they aren’t cut super well but she agreed with the seller’s grading of VVS, (not that it matters), and near colorless/faint scale.

What’s obvious to me is that the M looks a lot whiter in all lighting conditions. At times it even looks steely grey/blue next to these trillions. I understand some of that is due to cut, and hue. But how much?

Without spending a crap ton of money, I’m thinking about going to a higher color set, or something in the FY range. Would love some opinions and any explanations. I will be going to the jeweler to compare their loose stones in varying high colors, but I intend to source the diamonds online, so if anyone has a recommended PS vendor I’d love to know about them.1BD12CDC-D7CA-4618-B7EE-6E7CA050E6D8.jpegDE87446F-6FFC-40F4-B026-A557ED151DCB.jpegC56FEF22-BBB3-4101-B785-4925CE379A8A.jpeg

You may want to consider different side stones altogether as some have noted that trillions can be tricky:

Yup, this. They tend to show a lot of color and are subject to overall not looking great.

So your round brilliant is going to have better light return than your trillions. Set your trillions on an angle and they are really going to look
off (because you are not looking straight down into them). Is your objective to have them match? Thats going to be tough.

I agree with the others...in my mind, trillions don't really go well with round brilliants.

Yes, thank you all. I sort of knew that going in, that the crushed ice appearance of brilliant trillions we going to argue with the RB. I was ok with that, but was also hoping that a good color match would help. I really am set on trillions. Close second would be pear. I think I’ll go with the FY, an at least the contrast would appear more purposeful..

IMO this is a cut problem and a setting problem. Trillions and RBs aren’t going to match, and as someone else noted, you’re looking down on them at an angle, through the tilt window, so you’re probably picking up a lot of color from the setting as well. That will only be minimally fixed by changing to a higher color. You’re right that changing them to FY will at least make it all look intentional.

Get step cut trillions if you’re dead set on them.

Thank you. O may do that, if I can find some to sample with a good return policy. Worth a shot, although I do dislike step cuts paired with brilliant cuts.
