I''m buying an e-ring very shortly for my GF. I am in Canada and will be buying from a PS vendor in the US. Getting it resized locally voids the warranty and sending it back to the vendor is quite a pain so it is fairly important that I get the size right the first time.

My GF is not to know about my little project so I can''t just ask her to get her left hand measured. I know that her right hand ring is size 5. Today I tried putting her ring on her left hand while she was getting dressed and pretended it was an "innocent mistake"...anyway it was a bit tight on her left hand. I said "hey how come it doesn''t fit" and she said "I guess my left hand finger is bigger...maybe it''s a 5 1/2 or 5 1/4."

So what I''m wondering is if the 5 fit over her knuckle but was tight near the base of her finger, is it more likely that 5 1/4 will do the trick or might it be necessary to go to 5 1/2? I don''t know how much difference a 1/4 size makes.

Thanks!
Mark

Mark...

Unfortunately, the sizing between hands can be tricky. While your GF has two different sizes, it oculd be as much as a 1/2 to whole size difference!! Does she have any rings that she DOES wear on her left ring finger currently? If so, maybe you can sneak it out of her room for a day, go down to a jeweler and have it sized...then at least you''ll know the correct sizing for her...

If you don''t want to have the warranty voided (which I don''t blame you) then you could potentially purchase the ring in the best guesstimated size, propose and if it doesn''t fit, send it back for resizing...you''ll still be engaged and then her ring will fit perfectly!!

Good luck to you!!

Id start with a 5.5. if it''s a tad bigger the inside can be sanded down a bit to make it bigger, but if it''s smaller she can put sizing beads in to keep it snug

I got a hand on one of those big tools with all the ring sizes attached, and tried it on her while she was sleeping.

Though I''m not too sure if she was aware of this or not. I''ll have to ask her after I give her the ring.

usually the hand you write with is bigger, is your girlfriend a lefty?? My right hand ring finger is a size five and my left hand ring finger is a 4 1/2....I can''t wear my right hand rings on my left and vice versa...

If in doubt, I''d always recommend going with the bigger size than the smaller. At least if it''s a bit big she can still wear it (even if she has to wrap string or something around the back of it, lol! Very classy!) until it gets resized to the perfect size, whereas if its too small it must be so sad to have to wait till it sized to wear it! Good luck!!

I am right-handed and my right ring finger is about a 1/4 size bigger than my left finger, FYI. However, I also agree that the larger, 5 1/2 is a safer choice.

"I guess my left hand finger is bigger...maybe it''s a 5 1/2 or 5 1/4." Wow, that''s specific. It sounds like she knows what''s going on.
