Okay I have a question about proper ring size.
I see on PS that a lot of women are sometimes as small as 3.5 or 4.25, sizes like that. I guess I just thought that those sizes seemed REALLY small.

I have thin long fingers (wish I could say the same about my thighs haa haa) and I went to a jeweler and had them put the little plastic rings on me and I felt like a size 5 fit me best even though she said I should go a bit smaller. (I was worried about it being too tight as it was a cool day and I was nervous about warm summer days)

Am I doing this right?

BF and I are having Mark Morrell set our stone. I really want to get the size right the first time.
Does anyone know if he has his own set of sizers that he can send?

I think he should have his own, aye. Or, if you have a ring that fits you the way you want your e-ring to fit, I think you can send it and he''ll ship both back to you when it''s done.

I know I asked you in another thread, but I can''t for the life of me remember which thread it was--which MWM setting are you getting? I loooooooooooooooove his stuff.

I don't know about Mark Morrell but I believe ring sizes are standard. As for getting it right the first time-your fingers will be different sizes on different days. That being said-don't go with your finger on a cool day if you live somewhere where there is a lot of humidity (I live in Chicago so it's different all the time). I got sizing beads in a RHR that was a gift and it fits perfect no matter the season. (doesn't change size, just makes it snugger) Today is my third day with my ERing and it's a little looser than it was the day I got it. I'm still debating about the beads. I would say go back and try the 4.5 or 4.75-if it's TOO snug stick with the 5-if you can still get it on and off you might want to go with the smaller.

Sorry I rambled a bit but I hope this helps!!

They may claim to be universal, but different sizers (both the tool and the person using it) affect the outcomes. I was sized 3 times in one day once, and every one gave me a different size! So, yeah, even in general but definitely with a custom setting, I don''t think I''d take the gamble. I''d find a ring (of a similar or same width) that fits the way I want my engagement ring to fit, and send that to MWM to use as the guide.

Ring sizing can be a little tricky...I'm a five and I wanted my ring to be 5.25 for hotter days. My first ring was about 5.25 but then we had major problems with the setting and got it re-made, and now the size is closer to 5.50 and it's too big and spins a lot on my finger which is kind of annoying. I would never go with the 5 though, because although it fits nice and snug on "normal" days, I've had size 5 rings that hurt to take off on hot days or days when I've had too much sodium or retaining water etc....
I think you should go with what makes you comfortable since you'll be wearing the ring. Worst case scenario, you can always get it re-sized...but I know how that could be annoying, I should get my ring re-szied but I just don't feel like parting with it for any length of time.

Blair - Thank you. I figured as much about the temperature changes. That was why when the lady said I could go smaller than a 5 I was reluctant because it was a cool day. I felt like the 5 fit nice but not ultra snug so if the temps warmed up I would still be ok.

Gwen - we are going with your favorite....the Torcheire... eekk! So excited. BF just talked to Mark today! He''s on vacation till July 14th so we will have to wait for a while but I don''t care!!!
I plan to have BF ask Mark if he has his own set of ring sizers just to be sure.

Thank you Bri - I agree...I think 5 is probably my size -it gives me room for swelling.

The guy at Tiff''s who sized me for a US size said that you should be able to feel comfortable but when you pull the ring off it should not come straight off but should have a little resistance and make your knuckle wrinkle.

What I am doing for mine is I bought a cheap silver ring and getting FF to send it over :)

That is me positively GREEN with envy!!!! How FANTASTIC!!! Oh my goodness, it is the most beautiful solitaire I think I have ever seen!!! I am so excited for you!!! This may sound totally dorky, but once you hear back from Mark about whether or not he has his own sizers, will you let me know? I had some threads on ring sizing a while back because I was wondering the same thing, and most people thought he should have his own.

Yay!!!

Of course!!! I will definitley let you know the scoop.
I don''t know if BF will contact him unitl MM is back from vaca though. So it might be mid July before I have an answer.
I also scoured through his website and did not see anything about him having his own ring sizers. But that doesn''t mean he doesn''t have them. I mean...he''s gotta...right???

I thought a 5 would be great for me, but a reputable salesdude and a reputable B&M store around here highly, highly, highly recommended that I get my ering sized at 4.75. I thought 4.75 would be too tight on days where my fingers swelled and that I would be happier with the 5, but in the end I listened to his advice and got the 4.75. And let me say, I am SO glad I listened to him! My fingers don''t swell that much and my ring is never uncomfortable when they do, and my ring still spins a bit when it''s cold out. With a 5, I think the spinning would be annoyingly too much.

Thank you for all the advice!

GWEN - I just talked to BF last night and Mark DOES have ring sizers that he will send!

So that should make things a lot easier. I will make sure to try them on in different times (first thing in the AM and again at night and perhaps after we come back from a long hike or bike ride - fingers are really swollen then!!!) to get a good overall idea of what size will work best.

Yay, that is great news! Thanks for sharing the info!
