Rolling Ring Question

It''s official: I have fallen in loooooooooooove with all the rolling rings on PS! A rolling ring is definitely at the top of my Xmas list (yay!). But...I''ve got a little bit of a dilemma - I know that I''d like the plain tri-color, but what width?

I have short fingers and I typically prefer a more delicate look, so I''ve been leaning toward the thin on rollingring.com. But, I''m curious: how does the band actually sit? If the bands are each 2mm, does that mean that the ring would be 6mm on the finger or more like 4mm? And, will thin bands be sturdy enough to handle rolling?

Thoughts? I can''t find handshots of a thin rolling ring anywhere... any help would be so much appreciated!

I asked the same question. I looked at the 2 sizes that Cartier offered and I was can''t decide between the two. But I did find several posts with pictures.

Thanks uafly! That was uber helpful. I had found a couple of those threads (I''ve been ohhhh a little obessive, teehee)...but there was a post that I hadn''t seen before where someone said that the 2mm didn''t have the same look as the 2.5mm (and it does look on the website like it lays flatter, less "twisty"). Still looking for that hand shot though of the 2mm...

please please please, if anyone has one, I''d love to see!!

While I can''t answer the questiosn about how it will sit, I can give you a suggestion about seeing what it may look like on your hand.
( I am obviously not working very hard today)

Find a ruler with a mm side. Take a piece of paper and mark every 2mm 3 times and 2.5 3 times. Cut the strips and tape them to your finger.

I just did that because I can''t decide between the 2 sizes. And I still haven not made up my mind.

It does look different. The bands don''t stay "together" as much, if you know what I mean.

LOL - uafly, desperate times call for desperate measures, right??! Seriously, I am going to do that!!! I e-mailed the kind folks at rollingring.com and got a speedy reply that the band would at max be about 4mm...which is about the width of my e-ring, so I keep on turning my ring backwards and trying to visualize. Really, I need a new hobby! Out of curiousity, which size have you decided on?

Has anyone bought from there before? The prices are SO good it makes me skeptical.

Several of us (including myself) have purchased from rollingring.com and been very satisfied customers, Sera!

I got a 4mm, all WG with one scattered diamond band this past May and I love it. I wear it daily and it''s very comfortable. The service was timely, and Tami kept in touch with me throughout the purchase process (they were in the midst of changing offices and also my ring had to be made because they didn''t stock the style I bought in all WG at the time.)

Sera, I second what Monarch posted - several PSers have a rollingring.com ring, and I''ve been looking all over like a crazy person but nobody can beat their prices. I e-mailed today and got a reply in couple of hours - they seem very on top of their game, and I''m looking forward to working with them!

AND, I''ve been flipping back and forth like crazy, so this may change tomorrow , but Musey and NewEnglandLady, I think you''ve pursuaded me to get the 3mm since I keep refering back to your fabulous hand shots! Musey, you wrote in your post that you wouldn''t want to go thinner, and I think you''re right. The 2mm just seems sortof "flat" in the photos online and I don''t think I''d be as happy with it.

So....now it''s how long ''til Xmas???

Ij ust want to jump in to voice my support for roll-rings! I dont own the original Cartier version, but i have other versions in 14kt.yellow gold, sterling silver, 14kt tri-gold, and 18kt.tri-gold.I found the 13 gram 18kt roll ring in a pawn shop 5 years ago for a wopping total of $49.Its heavy enough that i wear it on my middle finger and people always comment when i wear it.Im on my way to rolling ring .com to see what they have !

I have large fingers so I am actually leaning towards the Cartier 5mm. I looked pretty silly with thos paper rings, but it really did help me choose what the right size for me.

I have thick fingers, but they''re short...and my e-ring is pretty delicate, so for a RHR, I want something that will work with it. I haven''t seen hand pics of the thicker bands, but I bet that will be a gorgeous look. Are you waiting for the holidays, too, or will you be posting pics soon? I can''t wait to see!!

I agree to lean toward 3mm. I saw Musey picture and it looks great. I found the photos of just the ring to be deceiving.
Go bigger. As my friend said to me, the smaller one is where you have been, the bigger one is where you are headed.

Not sure when I am going to buy the ring. I was inspired by some of the posts and was thinking about heading to Paris to get it instead of here in the States.

I was told that the Cartier ones are 3mm and 5mm. The most popular I think is the 3mm.

I actually just posted something abou this topic as well! I love these rings. My freind and her DH both have one and they love them!!

I just spoke to the woman at Cartier. I asked her about the width of the bands. SHe said the white was was larger??? Has anyone noticed this? She said they were btwn 2.5-3mm for the standard sixe that runs $950 here in Atlanta. I did not notice the white band being larger when I tried it on. WHat about any owners of this ring? Is the white gold wider?

I am thinking right now about ordering from rollingring.com For those who have one fromthere, how are the colors? Are they similar to the cartier ring? On the website the rose gold looks really dark. I like the more muted look. How does it look in person?

I ordered the 18k gold tri-color ring from rolling ring and went to Cartier to compare the colors--they are identical. I was really worried about the darker colors on their website as well, but when I saw Musey''s pics of hers, they looked much softer and I ordered it that day.

How do you like the 18K? The woman at rollingring suggested the 14K since the 18K gold is softer and these rings will be rubbing up against each other. How do you think the 14K vs 18K vill differ in appearance?

I knew the 18k would wear a bit faster than the 14k, but I really wanted the warmer, softer tones that 18k would give. I might need to get it rebuffed every year, but I''m fine with that. I''ve worn the band for a couple of months and it isn''t as shiny as it was when I got it, but I kind of prefer how it looks now. If you love the ring at Cartier and want those same tones, then go with the 18k. If you want the ring to remain shiny for as long as possible and don''t mind a little bit darker tone, then 14k will be fine. I know there is another PSer who has the 14k version and she loves it.
