Rose gold or platinum for diamond studs? Think I’ve made a mistake.

I had two beautiful D colour 1.01 ct each diamonds set in four prongs which I love. I am a rose gold fan but I think I made a mistake. Thinking of having them reset in platinum. What are others preference for D colour studs?

Why do you think you have made a mistake? Do you think they are showing color because of the rose gold?

The diamonds are still D color and the mountings will be the rose color you wanted. None can tell they are "D" color versus "F" or "G" color when they take a quick look at them in your ear. Only you know they are D color and that is just because you felt it is important. The rest of the world can't tell, but you buy a D color or a Flawless diamond for your own satisfaction, not for others. At least, one would hope so. Unless you wear a copy of the GIA report, that sort of detail is only for the buyer or the wearer.

You could rhodium plate the earrings to see if you prefer white color metal better for just few bucks. Why not try it and find out if it makes you happier? You can always have the rhodium removed.

Personally, I think white metal looks better with prong set studs. The settings seem to me to only be "stone holders" in that case without adding anything else, like beauty or artsy-ness or whatever, to the pieces. White metal settings are the most invisible whereas I think gold or rose gold distracts a tad from the diamonds for no real reason (unless it's a bezel setting). However, of course it's really just individual preference.

I can’t really put my finger on it. I think the prongs are a bit distracting and the stones are not as white as they looked when they were lose.

Yea thanks. I think this is the issue. The distraction from the stone.

Great thanks. I will look into the rhodium.
