After some "nudging" with the venue, they approved having the aisle lined with rose petals, provided that the coverage is minimal (like the pic below).

I'm trying to get a general idea of the cost, as I feel like my florist is taking me for a ride- she's quoting me $100. Maybe 'cause it'a a last-minute addition?

What have y'all paid for this? Note that my aisle is about 50ft long, and I'm in S.Cal.

THANKS!

well i don't know about the aisle, but my florist quoted $150 for a fresh rose petal toss. we decided to use www.petalgarden.com and do freeze-dried ones instead since it's cheaper. and they apparently don't stain like fresh petals can.

50 foot long? $100 sounds ok. Every florist is taking you for a ride if they know it''s for a wedding.

Those freeze dried ones seem like a great idea!

not to stray from the original post, but i wanted to say i ordered samples from both www.flyboynaturals.com and www.petalgarden.com and you wouldn''t believe the difference!! petalgarden won out BY FAR! and they are cheaper!

THANKS for the input!

I looked into the freeze-dried rose petals, and it would cost $169-ish for a "sprinkling" of petals for a 50ft aisle. So I''m going with my florist on this one.

THANKS again!

I''m not sure how you feel about fake petals, but I bought a box around Valentine''s day from Wal-Mart for $1.73. If you pick them up, they''re obviously fake, but looking at them on the ground you can''t really tell. Certainly not in pictures. I''m already planning on grabbing more boxes this V-day for the flower girls and tables at the reception.

well good to hear you ended up getting a great deal after all with the fresh petals!

The price is reasonable for a florist. Of course it can be done for less if you got the petals yourself and did it, but you probably don''t want the hassle of it.

mine was $60 in san diego for an ~20ft aisle with a little more coverage than shown in the picture so the estimate really seems on track.

i''m doing petals myself(part of my DIY kick). I''m ordering the roses from sam''s and using the petals there. 125 stems=$74

purchasing silk ones aren''t a bad idea either

I''m having $6000 of flowers at my wedding but still decided to go with silk petals for the aisle. 4100 petals for $30 something on eBay... can''t beat that!
