Hi all. Looking for a center MRB & pear sides (like traditional 3 stone setting). Was planning on getting WF A Cut Above, but found JP videos..

WF DE colors, VVS1 1.4-1.5ct, A Cut Above - currently range around $17-19k.
JP round 8 or 10, F color, VVS1, 1.45-1.5ct - arpund $20-22k

Would the JP stone look a lot brighter, whiter, and more sparklier due to their proprietary cut? Quality-wise, JP stones look impeccable and their videos display huge difference between theirs and other diamonds. However, would the difference be just as obvious IRL for the average person as well? Especially if I'm going lower in color for JP.

Also, would it be overkill to get JP pear cuts around 0.2ct as side stones? Want all 3 stones to match in color as much as possible (main peeve when they don't!).

I've read the PS article showing diamond prices declining since January, but JP prices have gone up. Worth the premium?

@DejaWiz Would love your thoughts.

TIA!!

Hi, juniper24!
This is definitely going to come down to your personal preference.
If you want an 8 main round, then any true super ideal cut will serve you well.
If you're wanting the Nova, 10 main round, or 10 main Decagon then JP is your path. They do offer 8 main rounds, but the price will likely be higher which I personally couldn't justify unless there is a very specific setting that only JP offers.

@DejaWiz Thanks for the quick reply! If I go with JP, any advice on choosing side stones? Another PSer advised that smaller stones look whiter than the main stone. I am thinking of going down in clarity, too.

If all JP stones - VS1, G color (or can I go down even more for either/both specs)?
If JP main, non-JP side pears - VS1, F color (since JP main stone will be very bright & white)?

I'd recommend bouncing that off of JP, WF, and whomever else that you're working with to get their take on what color grades for pear side diamonds will pair just fine with the main diamond up to G color grade. It may also come down to how well cut those pear diamonds are...JP may offer custom cut pears, but I'm not sure. Jon at Distinctive Gem has high-optics pear cuts available.

They truly are one of a kind ! I would highly recommend doing one of they're virtual/zoom appointments where they can show you whatever you want to see in different lighting conditions. Even if you don't go with them the diamond education is awesome !
