Hi,

I'm in the market for my first pair of diamond studs. I'm looking for between 1.2 and 1.6 total carat weight, H-I color and will be setting it in yellow gold. I am not too fussed about clarity, but ideally VS1 or higher. I want to spend less than 7k in total.

My engagement ring is 1.01 ct, H, VVS1, Hearts & arrows cut from JA. I find the H color white enough on my ring, so don't feel the need to go any higher on the stud diamond color.

I'm not in the US, so I don't have the option of returns (my sister will be bringing it over from the US when she visits) nor do I care about an upgrade.

I have shortlisted 2 pairs which match my specifications and that I like.

Would appreciate any expert opinions to help me choose!

Thank you!

Hello and welcome to PriceScope, panda1281!
ACA pair all day long!

Thank you @DejaWiz and @MissGotRocks

I was slightly more inclined for the JA ones because it's cheaper plus a slightly higher carat weight. I guess I'm asking if the ACA is worth the additional cost even in comparison to the True Hearts cut from JA?

Sorry if this is repetitive - I don't expect to buy another pair for a while and want to get the best bang for my buck - like everyone else :)

No way to completely quantify the difference between these two pair. True Hearts generally does not trump Whiteflash's diamonds in performance. The Whiteflash diamonds are H color while the True Hearts are I. That accounts for some of the price difference. I personally would always choose Whiteflash ACA's over True Hearts based on their performance and the upgrade policy. Never say never about an upgrade; many have said that before and been surprised to learn that they wanted an upgrade long before they thought they would - me included!

The choice is up to you and depends on what is most important to you in this pair of studs. Price is certainly an important factor but look at the totality of both pairs when making a decision. Once you have weighed all factors, then you can confidently decide which ones are for you.
