Round or Cushion-Engagement Ring

Need some advice:

Would a Cushion cut blue sapphire look good for an engagement ring? Unsure if the cut type would take away from the stone popping.

From a stone's best performance/lighting effect which would be best to choose?

I don't see why a cushion cut blue sapphire will not look good for an engagement ring. I've seen plenty of beautiful round, oval and cushion blue sapphire engagemenht rings. The most common reason a stone doesn't "pop" is due to its lack of colour. If it is strongly saturated, it will stand out loud and clear. Of course a good cut helps but if the colour isn't there in the first place, no amount of precision cutting will make the colour pop. Shape is a personal preference; it has little bearing whether the stone pops or doesn't pop.
