FIRST diamond purchase and I could certainly use a few honest, expert opinions. Planning to fly my lady out to Italy, after an upcoming military mission, and pop the question. Looking for a ~3 ct. round. Must be VVS1, Color: D. Would like to stay under $3,000 if possible ,but could be convinced slightly more. I've used table/depth/L:W suggestions from forums to narrow down my search on LGD but still overwhelmed with the options. Im not particularly picky but she deserves nothing less than the best. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Hello and welcome to PriceScope, TRascal!
We can certainly help you find some great diamonds to pick from.
Question: any specific reason for wanting such an extreme VVS1 clarity when VVS2 and VS1 will be just as clean to the eyes?
By also including VVS2-VS1, you'll really open up your field of choices. If you want to stick to VVS1 to appease your own mind, then no worries - I already have quite a few ready to link when you are ready for them...there are a lot of anonymous lurkers that tend to scoop up our recommendations before the person actually seeking help can get an opportunity to check and buy a diamond.

Thanks for the link. Honestly clarity to the naked eye would be my only concern. With what I know now, VS1 or VVS2 would be fine.

Any max diameter (or carat weight) that you want to cap it at? I ask because your budget can yield you upwards of 4 carats D VS1+.

Cap it at 3.2. She's hinted at 3 carat and is quite petite. A good deal on a 3-3.2 carat, D, VS1/VSS2 would be ideal. Apply the savings towards a quality setting and our trip expenses!

You still hanging about?
I'll post the links when you're ready for them.

Ready. Appreciate it in advance.

Here are a bunch of diamonds that have outstanding proportions and angles, good looking cut precision, and high optics.
Search the grading report numbers at the popular online sellers to check pricing (or request price matching if there's a specific seller that you plan to buy from) such as LooseGrownDiamond, Ritani, DreamStone, Adiamor, etc.
These are all probably in the virtual inventory supply chain, so pretty much any seller can get them.
I recommend copy and paste into an email to yourself or a text document then let me know when you delete all these links so that you have a better chance of getting one and avoiding the lurkers sniping them.

Thank you so much. I couldn't ask for me. I have all links saved offline.

You're very welcome - I needed to request that a moderator edit my post since I'm past the one hour self-edit grace period.
