How long do you think we should give people to rsvp? 3 wks, 4 wks, more? I actually finished printing the invitations (yippee!!) so now am on to the rsvp''s.
Just not sure what date to give people.

Thanks!

I had that same question myself. The best advice I can give is to ask your caterer when he/she needs a final head count. Mine needed it 2-3 weeks in advance.

We did a little over 4 weeks KNOWING people always send them late (or not at all)

I did 2 weeks, but I would highly recommend doing 3. My caterer was very patient, they have obviously worked with a lot of brides dealing with people who hadn''t mailed the rsvp yet.

We sent out our invitations April 23, the RSVP date was May 23 and the wedding is June 23.

If memory serves we asked for RSVPs 4 weeks in advance. Make sure you know when your caterer/venue wants a final headcount and give yourself a bit of leeway so you don''t spend extra $$$ unnecessarily.

Our wedding is Sept. 8th and we put August 1st as the RSVP date. I plan to send out the invites in the next two weeks so people get them around July 4th. We need to tell our reception hall who''s eating what, so I definitely wanted to build in extra time!

we did one month and a day.
for instance, our wedding was nov. 18. our rsvp date was october 17.
plenty of time for all involved.

I am sending mine out tomorrow (yay!!) but they are almost a week late. We were aiming to have them out on June 13th so they''d be in most people''s homes by the 15th. The RSVP date is July 15th so now they''ll only have 3 weeks instead of 4

However, 3 weeks should be enough time (they did get STDs back in February, afterall) but if it isn''t, we will just have to be flexible. We set the RSVP date 2 wks before the caterer needs a final count so that gives us until August 1 to call folks that may have not sent the card back by then.

It feels so great to have them out here finally.........well, as of tomorrow anyway :)

Thanks for the responses!!

So Happy, congrats on getting out the invitations!! I''m almost ready!

I hope to send them this weekend and will give them one week to arrive so they''ll arrive around the 29th of June. So I think I''ll give until the 27th of June which is actually a little over 4 wks from the time they''ll be sent. That should be plenty! I just people rsvp in a timely manner!!

Yeah, they went out yesterday morning and I don''t know about your postal experiences of late, but mail gets places these days and fast!!! I''ve gotten mail from Cape Cod (I''m in southern RI) in ONE day more than once! This means my Cape Cod family and friends could have thiers TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I''m so excited about that possibility :)

Dixie, your plan sounds perfect. It''s what I wanted, too......the 4 full weeks for them to reply. But, assuming lots got them today and lets be generous and say the rest get them tomorrow, they will only have 3.5 weeks :) I can live with that!

CONGRATS they''re almost out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
