I'm thrilled to share my new ruby and diamond eternity from @Enhoerning !
I had been on the lookout for a ruby eternity for a while, but never saw one that had the quality of rubies I liked. After seeing @Autumn in New England's thread about her stunning custom sapphire ring, and having long enjoyed ogling Inken's lovely stones, a lightbulb went off -- why not go for a custom piece? I reached out to Inken, and she absolutely delivered. She sourced a gorgeous set of 4mm burmese rounds with a stunning red color, along with a matching set of H&A diamonds. Her supplier actually had 4 more rubies than needed for the project, so I decided to buy them to have on hand in case replacement becomes necessary in the future. We sent the spares to GIA just to see what they'd say, and the stones came back as burmese, heat only with minor residues (which was expected), and got the "Pigeon's Blood" designation (even though they were the "weakest" of the set!). I debated whether to go with platinum (my preference) or yellow gold (since yellow gold can really help bring out the red of rubies), but Inken assured me that these rubies were so red there was no need for yellow gold, and she was right!
(The cushion is my 1930s lab ruby that I use as my benchmark. I'm happy to report that although the lab ruby is pretty perfect, when Inken's rounds are really doing their thing, they absolutely outshine the lab ruby!)
I struggled to properly capture the color and glow with my camera, so here are a couple of videos from Inken that better show what the rubies actually look like in real life:
Inken was wonderful to work with -- incredibly knowledgeable and patient with my many questions, never pushy, and absolutely committed to delivering what I was looking for. I highly, highly recommend her for any colored stone project!
And I also owe a big thank you to @yssie for being a wonderful bling friend with the absolute best inspiration pieces, advice, and encouragement. The setting is inspired by her gorgeous eternity
