I have decided to make a pair of moonstone earring for myself, After looking through the etsy website and some of the project done with hearts of water. Pillbox earring is what I wanted. Sally has shown me some potential moonstones. I like them in 5 or 6mm. She calls them rainbow moonstone. What does it mean? They do not have the bluish glow I am looking for..I saw these moonstone thinking they are better candidates, please look here http://diamondbistro.com/category/199/Natural-(mined)/listings/16632/A-pair-of-6mm-round-moonstone-strong-blue-sheen.html .Can I have some suggestion please. Is it advisable to send it my own stones to Sally. Thx

I love rainbow moonstones; the difference between the blue sheen and the rainbow is that the rainbow will show more colours instead of just being all blue. I am afraid your link doesn’t work for me; probably because we might not be allowed to link to DB? Also, I’ve heard of some PSers who’ve sent their stones to Sally to set but others have chosen to have their stones set locally using Sally made settings.

Thanks for the feedback and picture. I do not know where to send it for setting. Like the blue better than the rainbow. Will send it to Sally to set.

Many rainbow moonstones are mostly blue, but for the ones I have seen so far, the blue flash stones are darker blue in their flash, while the blue in rainbow moonstones looks more sky blue.
