Do salons not realize that people get married on Sunday and those people need hair stylists? I feel like EVERY salon in the Providence RI area is closed on Sunday and they''re unwilling to open for a bridal party. Ugh. I know people need "personal" time, but don''t they also need money? I would think that in this economy stylists would be killing for a few extra appointments seeing as hair cuts/styles are one of the first things cut when money gets tight. I''d even be willing to pay a little extra for them to open for us. Having one person do us all at the hotel is just not feasible...

HH, I''m sorry to hear about this. I was actually thinking about that this weekend. Have you looked at privae stylists on Wedding Wire or The Knot? They seem to have MUCH more felxible schedules, and are alot more accommodating as far as hours and days.

Thanks Mer. I have looked into them and unfortunately while I''d be willing to pay for someone to come do my hair, my BMs can''t afford it and I can''t afford to pay for them.

Wow. That is super annoying. It's funny, it's the total opposite of the problem I am having, and was thinking getting married on a Sunday would be so much easier for hair but apparently not.

We need people to come to my wedding site Saturday morning to do hair, and it's so difficult to try to get anybody to send people away from the salon on a saturday.

Maybe you could try to get 2 or 3 people to come to the hotel for you and do the hair there? Not even book it through the salon- maybe go directly through a couple of the stylists?- they would probably be more than willing as the money would go directly into their pockets.

I''m trying that route right now. The actual "traveling" stylists actually charge more than insalon stylists, so I''m trying to be sneaky and get a stylist who just wants to pick up some extra $$$.

First of all...yes, it''s annoying.

But, secondly, it probably isn''t "worth" it to the salon because the costs of simply operating the salon for one day can probably outweigh the profit they''d make from doing your wedding. That''s actually why many salons are closed a couple days a week--because as strange as it sounds--that''s how they insure a profit.

If you''re looking to hire freelance work, there are a couple of great sites to check out...

1. PartyPop.com---you can find freelance stylists on this site that work in teams and are willing to do on location work.

2. Craigslist, as always, is a good reasource. Look under "creative gigs"...post that you''re looking for someone to do the work.

Hudson, Dellaria's in Providence Place is open for sure on Sunday's. I've walked by there on Sunday before.

ETA The Red Door Salon and Spa at the Biltmore is also open on Sunday.

Sap-THANKS! I couldn''t remember the name of the place in the mall.

I''ve talked with one woman and I''ve left messages for a few others. Hopefully this will get wrapped up in no time...Italia, are you available for a little trip to the Ocean State?

Hahah...if I could, I would! And, I wouldn''t charge you!

Aww thanks hun!

HH for what it''s worth - I''ve always been incredibly happy with the stylists I''ve worked with at Dellaria''s (I''ve gone to locations in Newton, Natick and Burlington). I''ve also been in the salon when they have been doing up-do''s and make-up and the work seems to be very good across the board.

Good to know, thanks KTF.

Update: through the knot forums I found two stylists who are really affordable and available on 7/5. I''ve got trials set up for the 30th.

Thank you everyone for your help!

Glad you found some potential solutions.

Ditto - I used to go to the one in Providence when I was in school there (undergrad) - I always had good experiences! I really hope you can get it worked out - I remember the frustration of everything being closed on Sundays in Providence, that was really a pain
