This is a Sam’s club diamond ring- I bought this ring and I like it but how do I know that it is good quality diamond? Carat total is 1.35 ( I am not sure of the center stone size, sounds like it could be anywhere between 0.75 to 1 carat I think), color H-I, 14K White Gold Halo. Any help? I have 30 days to return, and it wasn’t cheap, so I want to make sure it is good quality. IMG_6804.jpegIMG_6804.jpeg

Welcome! It's pretty for sure!

Post whatever information you have. Pricing -- even ballpark -- would help, too. I may have a "coastal bias" but my gut is to prefer Costco over Sam's Club for (commoditized) luxury-type goods. Is it lab-grown? Is there any Walmart or third-party documentation for the center stone?

I will say this: if it was sold to you with only a "total-carat-weight" description, I would return it immediately, do a little reading, and then buy something else when you are better prepared. This is not the way quality jewelry is sold. Just like you would not buy a used car by the side of the road with a "Runs great!" sign in Sharpie on a piece of cardboard.

I see a similar one and it looks like ~ 0.7 cts is in the pave. The center stone wt is hidden in the "Product details" text. That is not a great ratio -- meaning that the total-carat-weight way oversells the center stone, which is where all the value lives.

I assume that this is all lab-created and that should be front-and-center in the advertisement.

This is not lowering any of the red flags for me.

No, not a great purchase.
Similar Sam’s rings talk of I 1 clarity, just to explain that’s very poor clarity.
Clarity starts at IF, then the VVS group, then the SI group and lastly the I group.
Most people choose VVS or “eye clean” SI to ensure there’s no obvious imperfections when looking at the diamond.
So I 1 clarity means lots of inclusions and imperfections and enough of them will hinder the sparkle.
Any seller who advises as xx TDW (total diamond weight) is a mass produced ring so the quality and workmanship is lower.
The most important C of diamonds is probably cut. Cut is what makes the diamond sparkle. The better the cut, the better the sparkle. Unfortunately these Mall store type diamonds are poorly cut so they aren’t ever going to look as great as a good diamond will.
I’d return the ring and come back here with your budget and ring setting preferences and the knowledgeable PSers will help you find a great diamond for your money. If you’re happy with lab grown your $$ will go further.
