Santa is really busy this year so I''m helping him out by doing most of the shopping for me. First purchase was the silver blue akoya earrings from Pearl Paradise on the Cyber Monday special. I also bought the silver blue necklace but decided to return it. I liked, but didn''t love it. Here''s a photo (I hope) of the earrings.

But the gift I''m really excited about is this 50" necklace from American Pearl. They are looped three times. I love the size and shape. Classic but kind of funky at the same time. I''ll probably wear these pearls as much or more than most of my others because they can also be pretty casual.

I love it when Santa gets me exactly what I want!

I really like the blue akoya earrings. The color is very subtle, and they have a nice lustre.

Cute earrings! Enjoy.

These pieces are fantastic: modern and classic at the same time. Enjoy them

They''re LOVELY, rainwood! You must have been on the "nice" list this year!

Thank you everyone for your nice comments. I wore the earrings last night and felt very glowy. They were perfect with my gray sweater. The necklace is still wrapped because we don''t celebrate with my husband''s family until later in the week, but I''ll try to get the requested photos then. It will give me a chance to figure out my new camera although I''ll probably still be taking pictures in the bathroom because I need the mirror to see what I''m doing!

beautiful!!!! love the necklace on you, both are beautiful

Here''s a photo of the American Pearl baroques doubled rather than tripled. I''m really happy with how versatile they are, and loved the price. When I opened them up on Christmas Day Phase 2, I wasn''t going to wear them with the turtleneck and jeans because I thought they''d be too much, but everyone convinced me to do it anyway and they looked great!

I wasn''t a big fan of baroques before, I think it''s the anal retentive part of me that can''t quite deal with the pearls being all different shapes as crazy as that sounds. Plus the peacock colors are the ones I''d most want to have and I don''t have the right skin tone to make them work. So I hadn''t really even considered anything other than round until I saw these. They aren''t uniform in shape but they''re close and the size and color are just right for me. I''ve found as I enlarge my pearl collection, that I''m drawn to the larger sizes or more strands. I don''t know what it is, but more seems to be better lately.

Thank God pearls are cheaper than diamonds!

Oh, and I forgot to say that I will try to get a picture of my American Pearl 'First Lady' double strand in the next day or two. I really like those too, which are 16" and 17" so sit right at the neck.

Rainwood,

These look beautiful on you. Very lovely.

I just bought from American Pearls too- great experience. I work nearby so was able to go over and look, but I found them online, and would highly recommend them.

I also forgot to add that I''ll try to get more pictures of my Pearl Paradise silver blue akoya earrings. It''s turning out to be hard to capture their true look with my camera. I probably need to take them out of my ears and stop taking pictures using the bathroom mirror. I really do like their subtle beauty. The only issue I had is that PP sent the earrings in a little bag rather than a box, which I was surprised at given the price tag. I prefer boxes so the earrings don''t rub together. Plus, I can''t take a picture of them in the bag!

Garden Gloves -

I loved your AP pearls as well. I''ve found American Pearl to be great to work with. I also bought a triple strand of AP freshies to give as a gift. It turns out the shortest strand was a little too short and didn''t nest properly so I sent them back. Jeff Kreidler immediately e-mailed me back to see if I wanted them to send a new strand or something else at a reduced price. I''ve found their customer service to be exceptional.

Many thanks Rainwood,

Yes, they are wonderful. When I telephoned to ask questions about an online stand, Eddy said it was gone, but offered for me to come over and pick a strand. When I realized they were blocks from my office, I was set to go, but super busy as usual had to defer and said please make sure its as gorgeous and round as the one online, but they were willing to let me come over and pick it out myself. They did right by me, and when I went over to pick it up the selection was awesome. Going back for sure. Hopefully the New Year will bring more time to enjoy and linger.

The strand looks lovely on you and I am glad you wore them with the turtleneck! They really take centerstage! ....and I am a bit surprised about that PP sent the akoyas in a bag????

Please tell me that it was at least a silk bag and not a crack baggie!!!

You are too funny! It wasn''t a zip lock bag, thank heavens, but it wasn''t silk either. I''ve never gotten a nice pair of pearl earrings that didn''t come in a box. The only reason I can think of is that they tucked the bag into the necklace box, and an earring box wouldn''t have fit. But I ended up sending the necklace back and I wouldn''t have stored them together anyway.

Very pretty.

I love all your pearly presents!! Beautiful!!!
