Here are my unheated sapphire and heated ruby collection that just came back from the AGTA lab. I just want to share my gemstones collection with you guys

The size of the sapphire is 1.70 carats and the ruby is 1.499 carats. The color of the ruby is very beautiful. I don''t know if this can be called pigeon''s blood color. The picture was taken under direct sunlight. Under natural day light (not direct sunlight) the color is just glowing red without any pink or purple hue at all. It glows under any lighting condition. The clarity is totally eye clean. On the picture you can see some inclusions because of the strong direct sunlight and enlarged. Any of you has any idea about "pigeon''s blood" color?

Hi Yingh, thanks for your kind words. I did not take the picture professionaly. I just take every gemstone''s pictures under natural daylight to show their actual colors. About what I am going to do with my gemstones, some of the gemstones I am going to set them into necklaces, rings, and earrings for my jewelry collection, and some I just collect them. I want to use platinum for my jewelry, but I still don''t have enough money to get custom made jewelry pieces

but I already have ideas what kind of designs I want to have

No no no no I don''t sleep with my gemstones. I keep them safely and take care carefully

Here is what I am going to do with some of my gemstones. This is just little idea about some of my designs. Sorry about the poor lighting condition of the picture. Since I tried to set the stones into earrings, I could not capture the sunlight. I usually used gem tweezers to hold gemstone individually. As you can see the colors of the the gemstones are not too bad with poor lighting condition. With more light, the colors are WOW

TKC, thanks for sharing the additional photos. The more the merrier.

I like the pair of sapphire, beautiful color.
30.gif

What are the yellow heart shaped pair? Sapphire? Citrine?

I collect loose gems too. Just love to have them loose and see the color and fire. However I had earrings in mind when I bought this pair of citrine. Their unique shape reminds me of my Tiffany tear drop earrings. But mounting might be difficult.

Me too waiting to have money to start some mounting projects, I used all my bonus this year in purchasing stones.

Had to budget for next year!

Again, on the nice photos you took - did you use a regular digital camera? What settings? I have photography lessones to take if I want to share my collections with you all.

The yellow heart cut stones are golden sapphires and the blue cushion cut ones are aquamarines. I never took any photography lessons. I just use a Nikon camera with 5.1 megapixels. I believe Nikon is the best camera to take close up pictures. By the way, your picture does not show up. I want to see it, please post it again

About the camera settings, put it on the largest resolution (max pixels), and set the camera into the flower sign (for close up), and the auto flash light on (it can adjust automatically. Usually if you take pictures under daylight with enough sunlight, the flashlight will not flash).

TKC,

Very nice photos. Your sapphire appears to be the classic Burmese color, hue, saturation and tone, all very fine! Looks like you might need a repolish on the table facet, though might just be the picture.

The ruby is lovely as well. Too light in tone and too pink to be considered "pigeon blood"

"Asking to see the pigeon''s blood is like asking to see the face of God"
anonymous Burmese trader

Love that quote. I have a few images of the classic pigeon blood color that I will post later. You might care to read the sappphire chapter from my book, click below.

Beautiful sapphire and ruby, you must be proud. I know what you mean about "what are you going to do with them?" I have a small number of stones (not of your caliber!) that I have and like to daydream about making them into pieces of jewelry for loved ones (mom, sister, 2 nieces). But sometimes I just like to take them out and look at them. What''s nice about gemstones, can still enjoy them even if not mounted.

My husband caught me looking at my gemstones and teased me, said I reminded him of Scrooge Duck playing in his money pile.
