From Description : It is 1.4ct unheated, 7.2x5.2, VS1, top blue color.

This is a note from Tan

"This Sapphire traces of very least color shift.Yes, indeed looks pretty indoor, not overly dark.under incandescent traces of violetish blue like Tanzanite"

Anything to bare in mind before making payment?

Do you need proof that it is unheated?

Yes, I will purchase a AIGS brief card with this stone.

I'm a little concerned about the center window, based on past experience, if there is a window in Tan's video, it is actually larger in person.

It's definitely there and longish but skinny in shape. I don't know how well it'll translate to the real stone.

def. window, and you can get an idea of the shadowing its going to exhibit by the photo on the far left. all things to consider...

There's a long thin window BUT I reckon it's small enough to close up once set.

As for the shadowing? Nobody judges stones from that angles (and you shouldn't) - coloured stones should only be judged face on and although your photos don't have a complete face on shot (because the stone is sitting on one side) it looks to have good even colouration.

My ONLY hesitation is if it will look less saturated in real life. I have purchased 3 or 4 sapphires from Tan and have always returned them because of this. It's strange because I've not returned anything else to him but I seem to have no luck with his sapphires!

I have only one blue sapphire from Tan and found the colour to be very close to the video.

I know Chrono - you and TL had some fabulous results with his sapphires but I just really struggle with them! I wonder if it's the cold grey light we have in the UK? Everything tends to look desaturated here but when I go abroad they come alive!

OTL - you're in the UK aren't you? I'd be interested to know what you think when you get the stone if you pull the trigger.

I have bought a few blue stones from Tan, sapphire, spinel, tanzanite, truely all stones are short of saturation comparing to his video, one tanzanite is even short of 2-3 levels of saturation... But no issue with other specimen

I agree with you if the window is easy to close, than the only issue might be the saturation. I'm buying it, so we'll see

I'm curious to know too. I know that both TL and I have no luck with Multicolour unlike LD. The stones seem to lose several levels of saturation when it arrives.

That's incredibly interesting. I wonder if it is the horrible grey light that we're fighting then? I'm glad you're getting this because it looks lovely (and something that would attract me) so I really hope it lives up to expectations and it'll be very interesting to see if this one is good. I hope for you it is.

Chrono - you're right! I have much better luck with multicolour.com stones and can "read" the photos far far better. Having said that, I've bought some lovely stones from Tan but just not in blue!

OTL, I feel that you are already over extended on stones, and this is one that you certainly don't need.

+1. If you've overspent for the month / year or have financial issues, please reconsider this purchase. You'll sleep much better in the long run.

My take:

It could be a good bargain. I am VERY confident it would not be "the one that got away." Maybe I'm overstepping in suspecting shadowing, but I remain suspicious. It would have to be viewed N/S face-on, of course, as LD is right to suggest.
