I’m about to purchase this sapphire to see it in person. I’m not sure if I’m going to like the grey look in incandescent light. Does anyone have an opinion on this?Sapphire lighting (3).pngsapphire ind (2).pngsapphire inc (2).png

Its definitely a color shifter depending on the light. I'm not sure you'll like the grey/purple color, but if the return policy is good then it's worth a look

I can return it but I will have to pay the Paypal fees if I do.

Hmm, what color did you have in mind? A more saturated shade?

I like the outdoor color. I’m trying to find something to fit a setting I have, so that limits my choices.

If you don’t like gray, then I wouldn’t bother with that stone. It’s very gray. That being said, lots of people don’t mind gray, but if it’s already bothering you...

it’s beautifully cut, but if color is your number one priority.

What is the mm size of the setting? Rounds can fit a half mm up or down from a certain size setting. Maybe someone can point to another gem for you?

9mm

Do you have a side and front shot of the setting. If it’s not too deep, it should fit a well proportioned 8.5 to 9.5 mm stone.

Well it looks like it would be able to take a deeper stone.

Yes. It used to hold a larger diamond than the cz that’s in it now. I think the sapphire might look nice in it. It’s hard to tell from photos.

9 mm sapphire isn't going to come cheap, especially in rounds. May I ask the approximate budget? It could be that what you are looking for might not be realistic.

I don’t have a hard and fast budget that I’m trying to work within. I’m not even looking for a particular stone, just something that would fit the setting and is durable. I went ahead and ordered the stone above because the cut is nice and should work in the setting. I’m hoping I like it. I purchased another sapphire ring last year hoping to use the stone for this setting. The sapphire ended up being too large, but I kept the ring anyway. I still need to reset that ring though.

If that’s the sapphire I’m thinking of, it’s around 9.7mm and might be a tad bit too large. I just saw it on a page I was browsing. I don’t want to mention the vendor name because you may want that private.

Yes, I am trying to keep it private. Thank you. The ring used to hold a diamond that large, so I’m hoping this stone works. It’s not as deep as most colored stones. That’s why I took a chance and ordered it. I’ve been looking for years to try to find something to fit in this setting.

I’d like opinions on how much others think this sapphire is worth. It’s unheated and 4+ carats.

Thanks!

There are so many factors that go into pricing sapphires that I honestly have no idea

I agree, they are all so individual. I was just hoping someone would have some idea.

I’ll post more photos when it gets here.

Looks more like a colorchanger, like blue-green to green-grey? Strange but a different light does much to a sapphire.

Yes. It is supposed to be a color-change sapphire. It’s hard for me to judge it from the photos. When it arrives, I’ll post more pictures.
