Sapphire Ring with side Baguette Diamonds

Hello guys,

As I've previously written a post in February 2015 about my sapphire pieces, I'm here again with the new 'waiting patiently' moment this year

I found this 2.3 carat stone at Expert Gems (again) and fell in love with its deep blue tone so I decided to take it. The vendor is now sending it to AIGS Lab for a Brief Report and I've been told that the process takes around 1 week.

The stone is expected to be set in a 6 prong (no basket) ring with side baguette diamonds. The setting is still being discussed and will be shown when all got finalized. I'm still deciding whether it would be 4 prong or 6 prong as I'm not a hardcore wearer . Any suggestions are welcome regarding the setting.

Discussed with the vendor yesterday. So it's going to be a 4 prong ring. They are still finding baguette diamonds with expected specs.

Here's the brief spec of the setting:
- 7g White Gold 18k
- 1.40ct Side Baguette Diamonds
- size 56.5

They said the diamonds will be cut to make them fit with the setting so total weight will be different in the end. This ring should be finished in January but it depends on how fast they could find the diamonds.

I also discussed about the 2nd ring, The Sapphire Eternity. They've shown me the loose ones with exactly the same size and color they've selected for me:





So the detail of the eternity ring would be:
- 6g White Gold 18k
- 3.18ct (2.2mm * 40) square shape blue sapphires
- size 56.5
- with Milgrain detail

Since the materials are ready, they said that the eternity ring should be finished in December.

I got the update from them today that the eternity ring is in progress (some holes yet to be cut). The baguette diamonds for ring #1 is still being ordered.

I am confused on the side baguette size. Did you mean 1.40 ct baguette each or 1.40 TCW total carat weight-(.70 carats each). If you are buying 1.40 ct baguettes I have never seen this large baguette size. What would be the difference between a baguette of that size and an emerald cut diamond. Are your baguettes straight or tapered. I prefer tapered.

Sorry lambskin, my bad English here.

Just did a google search and found that I've completely misunderstood the term 'side-stones'.

I should have used the word 'shoulders' to indicate where those baguettes will be. The drawing should be ready in couple weeks time I think

So yeah... 1.40 is TCW before being cut to fit perfectly in the shoulders. The TCW when finished would be decreased.

I've been told that they are straight baguettes, not tapered.

Pretty. I had invisioned a three stone ring-sapphire with two baguettes-one on each side. That is why I asked about size and tapered vs straight. Can't wait to see the final ring -going to be beautiful.

- 2.48 TCW (2.2mm * 31) Square Shape Blue Sapphires
- Size 56.5

It's beautiful. Love the setting. I also prefer 18kWG (and YG too). The six prongs should protect the stone from chipping.
