Any thoughts on multi colored silk only seen through the pavilion at certain angles.

You are sure it is silk and not something else? The fact that it is multi-coloured is triggering alarm bells in my head.

What do you mean by „multicoloured“?

I have some with silk and I love it's dreamy quality. I also have some with colored banding, or whatever it is, that add a fun effect. Do you have a photo?

Yes. Need photos :)

Yes I’m sure it’s silk , thanks for your response

Like kind of iridescent/ rainbow multicolored?
I think Finewater has had a few like that and personally I’d enjoy it.

If so - @Pinkmartini87 also has a gorgeous sapphire with it.

Come on @HopefulT
Show us what you are looking at. Pretty please It’s eye candy and Valentine’s Day is almost here. What’s Valentine’s Day without candy?

Please post pics, i am curious to see what you are explaining

Dying to see this too! Sounds cool!

I’m not quite sure I see what you are noting as multi colored silk in photos of your stone. Can you draw an arrow or circle, and repost?

This would be an example of what I was describing earlier.

I can't tell if what you are pointing out in your sapphire is just a reflection of light, or is an included area of the stone, but either way, I am not seeing rutile/silk.

The top picture is what it looks like through a loop but I can’t see it with a naked eye

Enjoy your stone. It IS fun to look at pretty and interesting things with the naked eye or under magnification. Fascinating, even.

Any further and concrete information you’d wish to know about it - you’ll need to send to a gem lab for a report. Possibly a local to you gemologist.

@Rfisher Thanks for the shout-out!

OP, to be honest at least in the above photos I’m also not seeing silk in your stone like the others have commented also. But maybe it looks different to you in person.

The silk in my stone is pretty visible both with the naked eye if the light strikes the stone at certain angles, but definitely with just 10x magnification under any light. So not hard to see or capture in photos.

I’ve included some for you. Hope this helps!

PS @Bluemuse has a great sapphire with silk also).

PPS silk isn’t for everyone but I enjoy it! A nice reminder of its geological origins.
