For those of you that did STD magnets did you include your picture on the magnet or not. I orginally was going to use our e-pic but then I thought I didn''t want to feel like I was forcing someone to look at our picture for the next 9 months...lol. What are your opinions? I planned to get stamps printed with our e-pic and use those to mail the STDs. I also want to use the e-pic at the entrance of our reception and in the newspaper ad so I thought it may be best to not use it on the STD.

I wouldn''t use the picture on the stamp and on the STD--that would be a bit much. I don''t see any problem with putting your picture on the magnet though--I''d rather look at a picture of the couple than at the snowflake thats on the STD on my fridge right now. The stamps are cute, but if I had to choose, I''d go for the picture on the STD--I''d feel bad throwing away the stamp with you on it!

I received a save the date magnet from a friend and it had a pretty flower w/date and their website to info on the wedding. Very cute!

we were going to, but we used a picture of our dog instead (she''s the cutest member of the family anyway!)
people got a huge kick out of it-
i posted it on here somewhere, lemme see if i can find it

Here it is- we put a sign around her neck with the wedding date

Labbie SaveTheDate Magnets

they were on a white note card, with white photo corners that don''t show up too well in the photos
but you get the idea

Labbie--I LOVE your save the date magnets, SO ADORABLE! Well, what I''m really saying is that your lab is so adorable. I have a black lab and a border collie, my little loves!

Class--I''ve received so many save the date magnets, and I must say the only ones I actually keep after the wedding are the ones with pictures on them. The others seem, well, superfluous (and I COLLECT magnets!)

The one you linked to is cute, but all my older relatives would be so very offended if I sent out a save the date that referenced cost or money on it. I''d get a lot of "haven''t you a copy of Peggy Posts''s Etiquette book?" comments. Which I do, thankyouverymuch.

In the end, it is all about the two of you and what you both want. Go with whatever makes you happy to look at yourselves.

i think it''s cute!

The arm and a leg thing is cute, but to be honest, if I got that in the mail, I''d think it was a little bit tacky. Like Haven, I also have some relatives who''d be offended. On the other hand, I can think of friends who would think it was really funny. So I guess you have to think about your guests, are they likely to find it funny or tacky? And hey, if you love it, go for it!

I have to agree with some of the others that I'd just feel kind of weird and almost guilty if I got a pre-invitation (which is what a STD is, I guess) that said "Have you any idea how EXPENSIVE it is for us to have to entertain you?!?!" It's cute, but as your guest I'd be uncomfortable and feel almost unwelcome!

But that forever caveat holds here too: do what makes you happy. Your guests will surely know you meant it as a joke, especially if you are a joke-y couple.

I definitely thought about it being viewed as a bit tacky and that is not at all what I want. However, I can think of loads of people that find it funny and clearly know it is a joke. But then there is my grandmother who would probably have a fit!
