I just felt like posting this here e/t I haven''t been around much..It makes me feel better to share whereas I can''t really talk about it without losing it...

....After winning the kitty lottery and coming into our home about 5 years ago...and after being diagnosed with FIV (feline aids)...and then going into heart failure and *amazing* all of the doctors by surviving...and then hanging on and **absolutely loving** life and food and love for 6 months after being diagnosed with heart disease (HCM) (he did have a HUGE heart in many ways) and kidney disease/renal failure (CRF)....Scotty is in kitten heaven now....He led a fabulous life and only very recently fell "ill"....We put him down after doing some bloodwork which revealed that he was, in fact, in accute renal failure and severly anemic so that nothing could be done for him to improve his quality of life for more than a few days.....

I held him in my arms as he peacefully passed and whispered into his ears that he was, indeed, the best cat in the world....

My husband is devastated and I joked that he would be less upset if he had to put ME down...I am trying to hold it together for him and hope to find him a cat that can love him as Scotty did....As all of my babies, Scotty was a rescue cat and he new it. By passing away, he makes room for us to give a wonderful loving home to one of his comrades....

Anyway...Thanks for listening...MMM

Scotter would like me to share this thread with someone who looks special...Some people probably think it's odd that I'm already looking for another...But I want to give another cat a chance like Scotty had....

This is Boscoe...He is a lovable Siamese in a shelter in TN...I am requesting more info about him but I would fly out to get him (we are in NY)...He looks like a real mush...

I''m so sorry to hear about Scotty. I feel for both you and your husband. You''re a fantastic lady for taking in these cats and giving them the best life possible. Thank you from one animal lover to another.

I''m so sorry to hear about Scotty''s passing, and as a fellow kitty lover, I know the deep loss you feel when one of your "family" is so ill that it would be cruel to let him suffer any longer.

Rescuing another kitty so soon is admirable in my opinion as there are so many out there who need a great home. Good luck with the "adoption".

awww. I remember your kitty.. He looks like my DH''s cat.. so sorry for your loss..

So sorry to hear, MMM. Sounds like Scotty was a special soul indeed, and you deserved that little sweetheart just as much as he deserved to be taken into your home! Some babies are just so special, aren''t they? Here''s to you for giving him such a life of love and for keeping him from a life of suffering!

Hugs to you from me, hubby, and our Monkey (he''s a cat)

So sorry to hear about Scotty''s passing, but I''m also glad that you are so willing to open up your heart and home to another precious pet. Your next new friend will never take Scotty''s place, but will instead help your heart to grow larger and stronger. Head bonks to you and your furry family from us and Sammy.

gosh mmm, I''m so sorry

. but what a wonderful life your scotty had. My heart just fills with sadness when I hear of a pet passing and I think of the day when my own baby will go on to heaven. I think finding another beastie to rescue will be a wonderful thing for both of you and although he/she won''t be scotty i''m sure it will find a special place in your hearts and home too.

Where in TN is the new kitty? I''m in TN and if it''s anywhere near me I''d be happy to go and visit it for you...no worries of me falling in love, hubby is very allergic to kitties

MMM - so very sorry to hear about Scotty's passing. He was very lucky to have had the loving home that you and your hubby provided and I'm sure you'll always cherish the years that you all had together.

I''m so sorry to read about your loss. Losing a dear pet is heart breaking.
I applaud you for choosing to rescue your babies, though.
Best of luck in your search for your newest family member.

MMM, I am so sorry to hear of Scotty''s passing. Things like this just break your heart. It sounds like Scotty was a real "Odds-breaker" and he must have loved you a lot to hold on and fight back every chance he got. Big hugs, and well wishes from here.

I''m sorry for your loss... I lost my first cat four years ago, and I''ve now had my two babies for three. I still remember him fondly, as you will yours.

I am so sorry to hear this news. May peace be with you and your hubby. My thoughts are with you. Mokey

I''m so sorry to hear of your loss mmm! Scotty was such a beautiful kitty - inside and out.

You have always been my animal helping hero. Ever since the day you stopped on the way to work and gave that poor dog some water, even though you weren''t sure if it was safe for you to do or not.

My thoughts are with you. A big hug to you.

MMM, I wanted to post the rainbow bridge poem (?) that I just have to read whenever an animal passes away, I saw Monarch64 post this before, and it always brings tears to my eyes AND makes me feel better:

"Just this side of Heaven is a place called The Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill or old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and look into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; his eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling to each other in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together...."

Thoughts are with you.
