The first one was at the Polytechnique, the Engineering faculty of the Université de Montréal (the university I currently attend) on December 6th 1989, killing 14 women and wounding 13 others.

Today, a shooter killed a 20-year-old girl at Dawson''s pre-uni college and wounded 19 others. http://www.cbc.ca/story/canada/national/2006/09/13/shots-dawson.html

My brother is close to the city center and just told me of a rumour about a bomb alert in another pre-uni college, just next to my university campus... I have no details on this, but I suddenly don''t feel so safe in my beloved city...

I''m very shocked, and a little scared...

This is truly very sad. What is Canada coming too eh? I was thinkin of you earlier and praying this did not involve you or any of the other PSers.
I do not blame you for being scared, just wanted you to know that you are in my thots and prayers. Hugs :}

Thank you so much for caring wife2b... Your thoughts and prayers are truly appreciated.

Awe Hun, I''m so sorry that this happened by you. You''re in my thoughts and prayers.

Thank you robbie. I''ve just learned from my university''s website that classes were cancelled in a building of my campus. I can''t find any details, but since there has been rumours about bomb alerts, it''s not very reassuring. I have a class in that building tomorrow morning, I don''t know if it''ll be cancelled.

Prayers and hugs are welcome.

Oh anchor, I feel for you!!! One of Ashley''s best friends is a freshman at McGill (SP). I heard the news tease - shooting at a University in Montreal and my heart sank. Had to wait for the commercials to pass and found out it wasn''t her school, but scary and tragic for all. Ash called her to make sure she was ok, and to wish her a happy birthday. Some birthday, she''s just glad to be safe but she is scared to death. Hard for her since she is so far from home. She said Dawson is just within walking distance to her school. My heart goes out to all the families involved. So sad.

Terrible news.

Glad that you are safe.

Hugs, Anchor. I was so shocked when I heard about this earlier today. I''m glad that you and your brother are fine.

Hey Anchor,

It was just too close to ome. My brother went to Dawson three years ago, and I would go visit him there. They sent all the students to Concordia (Sir George Willams campus) where I was for my undergrad. I was SO sad when I heard that a girl had died, up until then, the news was saying that the only fatality was the shooter. And of course the 3 in critical condition may still die.

I know where he started shooting, and all I can say is that it''s a miracle that there aren''t more dead. And it does make you scared. Especially since the Polytechnique, and Concordia in the past.

Thank you all for your kind words.

Kaleigh - Yes, McGill college is pretty close to Dawson junior college. It''s pretty scary to have this happening here, my thoughts are with the poor girl.

Ally, yes it''s way too close to home... My brother is in the ÉTS in the centre-ville, so he''s pretty close to Dawson. He said it was chaos down there.

I just found out that classes were cancelled in a building of my university campus because of a bomb alert. I think it might take a while for some of us to feel safe again going to school...
