Hi all,

I’m new to the diamond world and could really use some expert guidance. I recently bought a 1.54 CT Round Brilliant diamond, and here are the details:

  • Carat Weight: 1.54 CT
  • Cut Grade: EGL Ideal
  • Clarity: VS1
  • Color: H
  • Fluorescence: Faint (but seems stronger)
  • Polish: Excellent
  • Symmetry: Excellent
  • Depth: 62.1%
  • Girdle: Hearts & Arrows
I understand EGL USA is known to be more lenient, but my concern is the fluorescence, which is much more stronger than 'faint.' While I know this can affect the price, I’m curious her your thoughts on whether it's impacting the appearance of the diamond. Also, I’d love your thoughts on whether the other ratings, like color and clarity, look accurate based on the attached photos. I tried to give you photos of the diamond in different lighting, e.g., outside, indoors, etc. The first image is under a UV light I have at home. I agree the cut makes this diamond truly special, but I still can't get over the fluorescence thing. I know it can help with lower color diamonds, I need some advice whether this is or isn't an issue.

Great group here. Thanks in advance for helping a new guy out—I truly appreciate your feedback!

The fluorescence isn't doing anything negative to your stone. Unfortunately, the stone isn't well cut (EGL designation of h&a doesn't really mean much, sadly).
