Hello all. I have been feeling the desire to add something green to my jewelry waedrobe. While perusing ebay I corresponded with a seller about one of their gems. The seller did not believe that particular gem would work for a ring but offered me a yet to be listed gem. It is a GIA 1.24ct blue green paraiba from Mozambique. Thoughts on cut, color, glow. What would be a fair price per carat?

I al so looked at Paraiba International at this gem: https://www.paraibainternational.co...aline/products/paraiba-tourmaline-0-50-carats . Here is the in hand picture that was sent.
Paraiba Photo.jpg and on an entirely different note. Looked at a mint merelani garnet. No GIA but 7.8mm round and the most expensive option of the three. Here is a photo of it. I definitely prefer the Merelani. Similar color to the top stone, but a way better cut. Top cuprian sparkles but is not really that glowy. I suspect the middle stone is Brazilian and glowy, but probably pricey, too.

I prefer the merelani!

Would definitely pass on the first stone. You could ask Adam to send more pics of the second Paraiba...

The first stone is a complete waste of time. Washed out colour, no glow.....

This. Keep looking and find more to compare. Goodluck!

The first stone is a pale cuprian, but not an ugly stone. It would look nice in a dark rhodium setting. I probably wouldn’t pay more than $500 for it, The mint garnet is really cut well, and I’m sure sparkles a lot. I woukd want to see it in other lighting.

The middle paraiba is nice, and glowy, but it’s expensive and small.

How many carats is the mint garnet, and the price?

Middle cuprian looks very nice. Just gotta think hard on how to set it since it is small.

My favorites are the last two... but the first one is nice if you like a pale green color.

Absolutely NO to the first one. Love the mint garnet though!

The mint garnet is actually the most expensive stone by over $300 plus it does not have a gia or agl certificate. It is the largest at 7.8mm diameter and over 2 carats. The brazilian paraiba is 6.2 x 4.7mm. It is the size of most of my gems. Will look for more candidates. Lots of food for thought..
Thank you all for your guidance.

I only very rarely see garnets with lab reports - I'm sure you could get one though if that's a requirement.

Just wanted to add for you to keep in mind that most Cuprians/paraibas photograph more saturated than your eye will see it. I forget the exact reason for this, as I haven't had my coffee yet.

I'd go with the garnet personally. If you really want a cuprian, I think there are some better examples of them. The green is nice but as said before, quite light. The blue is nice but its not blowing me away to be honest. You'll pay a lot just for the color.
