Im selling 3 of my designers bags but I don't know where to sell them. I don't want to go the eBay route and deal with shady buyers or try fashionphile or yogis closet ( they lowball their offering price). Any advice as to where I should sell? :?:

I've sold about 15 bags, some by myself and some to consignors. There's no easy way to recover a lot of money for secondhand bags.

If you want to sell them by yourself and get maximum return on the sale, you are going to have to use eBay.
Other sites don't have enough traffic. Shady buyers exist on every site.

If you don't want to list them yourself, you will have to send them to a consignor like Yoogi's Closet, Ann's Fabulous Finds, or Linda's stuff. And you will have to accept that they will be setting the asking price and give you your cut. Also consignors only take specific brands so that will limit you as well.

I have bought and sold on facebook sites dedicated to that brand (or high end brands) that are local to me. That way we both avoid international postage and tax issues. Look on facebook, you might find a buy/sell group local to you!

You can try there.
They don't allow sales on the forum.

(There's a private market place section by invitation only).

I've been on TPF for over 4 years and had no clue there was a private market place there!
Are you apart of the group? If so, can you invite me?

I think you have to apply yourself, but they don't often add new people. Do a search in the Feedback area for 'marketplace' or 'marketplaza' and you should be able to find the current procedure.

Good luck!

Hi, I did a search and it seems like it is Invite only. I am going to send you a private message.

ETA, I have no clue how to send a private message on here . Can you send me a PM please?

Look me your designers bags :)

You can also sell it on tradesy.com or poshmark.com (lots of low ballers)

Sometimes it helps to simplify things a little. Have you tried selling them to your close friends and family? You may not need to go as far as advertising them on Ebay after all. Worth a try.

I disappeared from my own thread!

Update, I sold the 3 bags from 2016 on poshmark. I’m looking to sell 2 more bags to help fund another purchase. Not having too much luck on poshmark (could be because of pricing), so I’m open to consignment. There are a few consignment stores where I live. Perhaps I should get a quote on the two bags I would like to sell.

You could try Loupe Troop, I’ve seen the occasional bag on there. At least it’s free!
eBay / PayPal will charge you 13%. You can put “restrictions” on your listings. What I have done is list a higher price but accept offers. By accepting offers you can check out your buyer before you let them buy. You want to see their feedback and history on eBay. I’ve been on eBay 15 years so obviously I’m a trustworthy person. Avoid buyers with less than 100 feedback and see what other things they’ve bought, to see if they are buying good things and not a heap of 99 cent things to get their numbers up!

Thank you for the guidance! I will list on eBay today and follow your advice when dealing with buyers. I have listed on loupe troop before, but didn’t have much luck at the time but it’s worth trying again.

Take clear photos, show the Serial number. If you still have the receipts, indicate that in the listing.
Note condition, LV buyers are super fussy so if any scratches or nicks, say so. Anything major take a photo of. Note condition of inside, hopefully no Stains!. If non smoker and Pet free home (some people are funny about such things) say so as well. Remember your listing has to be 100% accurate to avoid a potential “take it back it’s not as described”.
Don’t do pick up (obvious reasons) only accept PayPal and only send to the Address eBay gives you. NEVER EVER send to another address not matter what the sob story. Don’t do any transactions away from eBay, unless enquiry came through another source (ie Loupe Troop).
Always send signed for delivery, no exceptions.
Check current prices for similar and do a “sold” search to see if a similar bag has sold recently to get an idea if your price is fair or not.
List as “run until further notice” time, eBay doesn’t charge for listings.
If you want say $1,000, list as Buy it Now $1,200 with offers option. Make the listing to say $900 offers and above referred to you. Any offer under $900 will be ignored. You’ll get an eBay message saying you have an offer. You’ll then have the buyer ID so you can check buying history, address etc and make a decision (48 hours) to accept or Counter offer back.
Good luck.
