I got these through my fiance's long-time friend and he is a certified gemologist who has been doing private sales for years. I was looking for "something blue" for wedding jewelry and had wanted to make these into diamond halo drop earrings. However, due to the sudden need for funds elsewhere, I decided against setting them and am passing them up to a Pricescoper instead.
The stones do not come with a certificate because my fiance's long-time friend is a certified gemologist himself and we trust him and decided to skip the certification in order to manage costs. I did bring these stones to a local jeweller though, at the point of time when I was thinking of setting them as earrings, hence she has verified their authenticity.
I measured them the good 'ol fashioned way with a ruler as caliper measurements were not written down. But because the gemologist had taken great care to source for matched gems, I trust that he has paid close attention in matching them in terms of face-up size and color. They were sold to me as Grade AAA tanzanites.
1) Trillion 1
- 4.03 carats
- 10mm x 9.5mm x 7mm
2) Trillion 2
- 4.19 carats
- 10mm x 10mm x 8mm
And here are pictures of the pair of trillions being put together. Photos are taken a) in the morning light b) indoors in shade
c) curtains drawn but with afternoon sunlight directed onto the stones. In the 3rd photo, the trichroic effect of the tanzanites is the most apparent. Please pardon me if my photography skills are not up to scratch though.
If you are interested to buy, I have posted a listing here: http://loupetroop.com/account/listings/2713
