I''m getting my wisdom teeth pulled in a hour. All four of them. The Dr. is also going to make my gum line go higher on my front 2 teeth (they look fine, but I guess they are supposed to be higher...idk).

My mouth is going to hurt...I''m going to be drugged up...and can''t eat much!

Any ideas of good foods that I can eat besides pudding and soup?

Good luck, I am seriously a chicken at the dentist and it was one of the easiest stress free things I have ever had done, the worst thing is the wait beforehand just make sure your meticulous about keeping your teeth clean afterwards and you should have no issues .

Jelly (otherwise known as jello in the US) is awesome so good and yummmy, Custard, protein shakes, anything soft is good.

My daughter went out with friends the day she got hers out, so I don''t recommend that, but it might be a lot better than you think. Make sure you get the post-op rules in writing, they told my son about them when he was loopy and I kept seeing him do the wrong things (drool only, no spitting, no straws, no carbonated beverages allowed)

And there are things you have to do in the weeks later as the area heals (like gently flow water in the area so food isn''t trapped, that my DD didn''t do, so she swelled up like a chipmunk maybe 2 weeks after --on the very night she was going to a rock concert

Ah, the rule of natural consequences, you don''t listen to your momma and see what happens!! they can reduce the swelling after with medication, so people are usually much more comfortable than when I had mine out. Good LUCK!! Let us know all about it.

I got all 4 of mine out as well. I was pleasantly surprised when my mouth did not hurt or swell as much as I feared it would!

As for food, anything soft really. I remember eating scrambled eggs without too much trouble.

RedRose, good luck! I had mine pulled about 2 years ago, and it was not fun! FI drove me home, we stopped at the pharmacy to pick up the scripts, and they wouldn''t let him fill them (I was in the car). I had to go in there with my gauze-stuffed mouth to get the pain pills! That really ticked me off... it was fun coming out of anesthesia though! LOL

I was able to tolerate PB & J sandwiches... I was starving by the time I got home!

Good luck redrose!!! I had all four wisdom teeth pulled and my upper palate surgically expanded in 2007, lots of rest and painkillers later I was just fine. You''ll do great!!

Ha! It was the same for me! I had to go in too and I remember I was sooo out of it and I was drooling blood out of the gauze! It was horrible! Luckily the pharmacist felt bad for me and rushed my prescription! Then I was taking pictures of my chipmunk face and bloody gauze and texting them to friends! Ha! I was so drugged up! Apparently they told my DH that I was cursing like a sailor from the anesthesia! If you knew me you''d laugh, because I don''t swear much. They said "it''s always the quiet ones that do that!"

But really the pain wasn''t bad. I was off the vicodin by the second day. Can''t remember what I ate... I think a lot of yogurt. I really could eat anything as long as it was soft though.

Remember to not suck on straws. And follow the instructions they give you for flushing it out.

I had gotten all four of mine taken out at the same time as well.. back in high school. It really wasn''t that big of a deal. You''re definitely going to become well-acquainted with jello, soups, and all sorts of liquid/mushy stuff within the next week or two, and pain killers could become your best friend

Also, keep in mind that you might end up looking like a chipmunk

I didn''t think it was so bad! You''ll be okay. Stay away from straws or rice (anything thing that could dry out or get stuck in the sockets). Soup, milkshakes, mashed potatoes...that''s what I remember eating.

Yikes, that''s the worst! I didn''t have much pain, and slept most of the first day away... but I hated the ooglay swelling and funny little craters in my gums (that finally went away after almost a year!!).

Dont eat the soup, the heat really hurts! Pudding was good.. .but trust me, you wont feel much like eating right away.
I was a big baby. Didn''t eat anything, shed some pounds! (yay skinny me!) Bro, had it done, impacted and all... and was eating a hamburger that night... so it just depends. I actually preferred sugar free jello... slopped right down!

So! I am done (have been done, relaxed for a little while. The seciditives made me loopy...they woke me up and I was crying, no idea why. About had a panic attach, but they calmed me down when they said i wouldn''t have to go to the hospital if I wasn''t able to clam down myself.

My friend brought over cookie dough, so I suck on that. I''m eating whipped yougurt, etc. They also did a Gingivectomy at no charge (I think the Dr. thought it would look better, and I was already under anyways, so he just went ahead and did it...it looks great!

I''m in pain, and it took 3 pharm. to fill my percocet percription, I guess no one carries it. I havent taken any yet, but I have another kind that i took to help with the pain.

I think I''ll be able to go back to work monday though! Thanks for all the dust everyone! I''m super tired and outta it yet, otherwise I''d thank you each individually, but I think I''m going to nap!

Yay! Glad you made it through ok.

I had 4 impacted teeth removed, and I spent several days shifting packs of frozen vegetables from one side of my face to the other. I think it really helped keep the swelling down. Try it!

You will be fine just pop your pills and sleep rest is the best thing.
I woke up crying as well, I was freaking out as I went to sleep because I couldn't move my body and I could feel myself losing function so when I woke up I was in the same emotional state.

You won't necessarily swell up, I had 8 teeth removed for my braces and I had no bruising/minimal swelling or anything my specialist was very gentle.

Thanks again everyone! Figured I''d give another update. Just woke up from a nap, and my doctor called. The local numbing hasn''t wore off from my bottom lip, but everywhere I can feel. He said that I woke up crying and hyperventaling, which is why he put a surgical mask over my head and said if I didn''t come out of it I''d have to go to the hospital. I really don''t remember that part, I remember him saying something about the hospital, but thats it.

I was shaking and couldn''t stop, along with the cying and mild panic attack from the sedidatives. He said I did good though, and it''s common in women to being to hyperventale (sp?).

I''m doing good and eating whipped yougurt, and cookie dough (yay for my really nice friend who took care of me!)

one in ten ppl apparently do not.

(not sure what that says about my wisdon, lol). I'm just glad I don't have to go through it.

Hey Redrose

I was numb for up to a week after my surgery. There''s a nerve that typically can''t be avoided when removing the bottom rear wisdom teeth and it controls sensation in your face and sometimes your tongue. Most people get their sensation back within a week. Don''t be surprised if the first sensation you feel is an insane itch that you just can''t reach.

Hope your recovery is speedy and don''t forget your compresses so you don''t swell!

Thanks you guys! I am popping my pills, although they make me very dizzy and really really pissy. I mean REALLY pissy. I feel bad and I try not to talk (it hurts to talk anyways) but all paticents is gone! I also had a nose bleed..I''ve never had one before, so I''m assuming its from the meds right...

I took the day off tomorrow. I''m having a friend come over and watch me! We''re going to watch movies. My front gums look loads better, I''ll post before and after pics when Im feeling better.

Hey Redrose! Glad to hear you came through it ok... Just take your pain meds and all will be swell! After I got mine out, I was on loritab for 3 days. I don''t really remember a thing, and I felt great! I would actually do that surgery again in a heartbeat... If I had any wisdom teeth left!

(I did end up getting dry socket, which was AWFUL!! The pain meds did nothing to cut that pain, but once I got them packed, it was fine again.)

Sorry you are having all the complications, Redrose. I had trouble with mine, too, when I got them out last year. Sleep and Slimfast were my best friends. I also had numbness for awhile, but it did go away eventually. Hang in there, I promise it will get better!
