I wanted to make sure it was authentic before posting here. I purchased it from a local store that buys antique pieces from people selling it as 'scrap'. The jeweler there collects them and buys them up from the owner. I met the jeweler while looking for someone to size a ring. We got to talking about OMC and OECs and he told me about his 'collection'. He told me to come back the next day and he will bring them in to show me.
I went in and he had his and some he hasnt purchased yet from the store. I looked through his goodies and the stores, and found this ring. He said it was 18kt white gold, and I asked about the center stone, he didnt know what it was, possably diamond, and if so, .5-.6cts.
I bought it for 1500, because I LOOOOOVE the perfect OEC cut on the center stone. THe side stones are OMC. He sized it for me (he has experiance sizing antique jewelry, and I am a size 4, the ring was size 7). I took it to an estate appraiser yesterday to get it authenticated. He told me it is in fact a handmade edwardian piece. THe center stone is an orangy brown (although I also see strong yellow) diamond, 1.03cts. The metal is platinum and the OMCs surrounding the ring are about 1.5cttw.
There is absolutely no wear on the metal, and the only 'damage' is a small chip on one of the small diamonds. Only visable under loup or very close examination.
I love it and it is my new wedding ring. I LOVE the fact it is over 100 yrs old!!
