Ok, I know this is my 4th thread today, but it''s been a busy and exciting day

. My mom told me that while going through the closet today she found an ivory colored table cloth that my great grandmother had embroidered with silver (I think) thread. She said she remembered that she''d given it to my grandmother when my mom was young and my grandmother thought some parts weren''t done as she liked so she redid parts.

My mom suggested that we use it to make the chuppah! She said she''s not sure if it''s large enough, but we could sew a border onto it if it''s not. Granted I haven''t seen it yet, but I''m pretty excited to have something like this to use that''s so sentimental. My great grandmother, my grandmother, my mother and I will all have worked on it when it''s complete.

That sounds so nice Robbie! The chuppah is such a wonderful way to weave (pun intended) a family''s history into the ceremony. We were unable to do that -- no family cloth big enough. However, we''re using my great-uncle''s (passed on to my dad) tallis to wrap around ourselves during the Seven Blessings. It makes me feel like past generations will be hugging us at that sacred moment (and bonus -- it matches our colors!) -- I know your chuppah will feel like a canopy hug from your family as well!

Mazel Tov!

That is REALLY sweet. I hope it works out perfectly for your wedding.
