Setting design help - structural integrity

Hi everyone,

I'm working on a solitaire design - please see CAD below.
I'm considering asking the jeweller to add a slight curve to the base of the prongs (see rough orange markup), in order to lower the diamond slightly and reduce the gap, whilst ensuring we keep enough clearance with the wedding band.

Would changing the structure of the base of the prongs from straight to curved like that affect the structural integrity of the ring? Is it better to keep them straight and live with the gap and diamond height, or will it still be ok?

Thanks!

Tightening the base bottom of the basket to make it ‘swoopier’ shouldn’t affect structural integrity. It’s not like those lower wires (I know they technically aren’t wires unless it’s actually handforged - just lack of a better term) are made thinner. They are just curved differently and placed closer to each other at that point.
(The vendor should ultimately be the one answering this question of durability though.)
I suspect with this change (1/2mm gap?) you will not be able to view your stones culet at all from the side. Is that an issue?

Speaking of wires and this vendor - I believe mrsB soli circa 2015 has a similar effect of what you are wanting to achieve here with the bottom shape of your basket silhouette.
