I've been on a bracelet mission looking for things to stack with an estate tennis bracelet I got at Ivy & Rose last week. (Hello... new obsession!) I'm finding a bunch set in 10K and silver. Is this a new phenomenon? Is it a good idea... ? Can / should you wear a 10K bracelet next to a 14/18K/platinum one? What about silver? This is a whole new confusing universe to me!

I do this all the time. Some of the most charming pieces I find are in 10-12k and they mix beautifully with silver and rose gold too.

I'm so glad to hear this! Do you have to take any special care with the lower K pieces or the SS? What about cleaning?

the lady at the mall jewler told me years ago no more that 4 carrots difference should be on neighbouring fingers so i go with this rule
so i wouldnt mix and max with the 18K one

SS loves to be worn so once its polished it doesnt tarnish when its worn
i know there are some unfortunate inderviduals who's body chemistry clash with silver, but i hardly ever have to polish my cuff i wear 24/7 or a silver pandora cat pendent i wear often

sorry to bring up the mall jewler again ;)2

but they do sell some modestly priced daimond rings in silver here
and lots of rings of all sorts and prices in 10k
remembering everything is so much more exspenisve jewlery wise down here and that was before our dollar dived

i recently took some motly old loose diamonds i had (that had came out of two pieces i had scraped) into the jewler to be set into a silver bar pendent
the lady behind the counter (not a mall jewler) said oh diamonds dont usually get set in silver because it soft

but hello -its a pendent ! im not going to be brick laying in it

i found a ring in mum's stuff that was vintage 9k rose gold
it had not been worn in a very long time (never by mum)
it was so tarnished i thought it was brass
so over time lower K does tarnish
but it polished up beautifully
i just used a silver cloth i had on hand

i would not think in a PS world that lower K needs any more cleaning that other gold pieces so long as it is cleaned regularly just like one's other pieces

I have seen this being done in some of the mall stores. I don’t think I would want diamonds set in sterling silver that tarnishes!

Daisys, I am one of those unfortunate people with acidic chemistry that doesn't play well with silver. I once received the Tiffany Xs and Os ring as a gift... and within an hour my finger was green. I don't know if a bracelet would be different/better since it's not in such close constant contact like a ring is, but I can't imagine it's a good idea (for me)... ?

MGR, I'm right there with you! And surprisingly it's not just the mall stores. Truly surprising to me, but I thought maybe I am just completely out of touch with this sort of thing.

No special care at all, but then I prefer oxidised silver. My heart sings when I see gold (particularly rose gold) mixed with blackened silver settings. It creates a 'pop' effect for low-colour diamonds and looks lush and unstudied.

Also I have always loved gold pendants as hung from a silver chain - the juxtaposition is charming. One of the very stylish Pricescopers here has a very gorgeous set from a high-quality designer, but memory fails me as to who, and I can't remember the designer either.

Can anyone out there remember?

I only wear white metals and regularly mix Rhodium-plated ones next to my platinum bracelet and bangle.

I made a charm bracelet with unplated white gold chain, mixed with Argentium silver clasp and Rhodium plate white gold charms.

I can see a tint in the unplated chain next to the platinum and plated WG pieces. However, since the charm bracelet is only worn in the evenings when the light is low, it does not bother me.

DK :))
