Hi all you brilliant blingy people! So, I FINALLY after TWENTY YEARS of being together, 13 years married, have MY VERY OWN SPARKLY:kiss2::cool2::mrgreen2: woohooooo!!! She is a jaw dropping (to me anyway!) 2.5ct E/SI1 radiant. The brilliance and fire on this sucker are to die for. Got it from Yekutiel in NYC at IDjewelry, and he was wonderful, highly recommend!

But now for the setting... I think I probably want a simple band with small diamonds, probably not a halo because she's just so nice on her own. Want to make sure the diamonds are of excellent quality because I'm not putting a stone that cost $$$ in a junky setting. I know so much about loose stones after doing all my research, but now I have setting questions...

I would prefer to get a setting locally so that repairs/adjustments/polishing can be done quickly without sending my stone away (we are very attached already). Is this dumb? If I get it set locally, what kinds of questions should I be asking to make sure the setting is high quality? Does it have to be custom? I'm honestly worried about inferior work if local and custom... I live in Tampa Bay but do down to South Florida a lot if anyone knows someone in those areas.

Or can I order a setting and have a local jeweler set it for me, or is this stupid and/or not even done? Don't know what a jeweler would charge for this. If it IS possible, can you all give me some places you would recommend to order from (even though I obviously may just use Yekutiel again because he was great to work with)?

Lastly, platinum or white gold??

Thanks everyone! Will post pics when she's all set!

Oooo can you post a pic of your diamond?! Pretty please :)

I would have had Yekutiel set it. He has access to lots of settings. Depending on the setting (and what's wrong), you can have
it worked on locally by a trusted jeweler. If it is a branded setting you may have to take it to your closest dealer that handles that brand to have it worked on.

Ok, here are some not great pics of me trying to balance it on my finger... I love the size on me!ring blue velvet background - Edited.jpgradiant balanced on finger.jpg
