Ok ladies, i need your help!

I originally had planned on doing a halo for this stone, but i am no longer sure i want to now (i think it might detract from its beauty). It''s destined to be a memorial ring to my grandmother; who i lost years ago but still miss dearly.

So, i am looking for anything you got... Or, Should i go for a halo?

Heres my lil baby- 2.51 amethyst, Portuguese oval, cut by Mr. Peter T. The top picture is inside with incandescent light, the other two are outside at dusk.

It''s lovely. I am sorry about your grandmother. I would go with a couple of diamond accents on each side in a very simple, basic ring so the stone is the center focus of your ring.

Maybe a rose gold setting for an antiquish look? With a few melees as accents? You can even go with colored stone sides (maybe small pyrope garnets or iolites for example).

I agree a halo would detract too much, just like larger side stones would.

Your amethyst is very pretty and such a lovely remembrance to your grandmother. I Like amethysts set in YG myself. Here is my oval in a yellow gold setting with a few diamonds on either side. Nothing elaborate but I think it makes the stone pop. Mybe something similar for yours?

Do you know the dimensions in mm?

Is there a style that your grandmother favoured?

I second the idea for rose gold - I love pink or purple stones set in rose gold. Just a few diamonds for a little extra sparkle on the band or something with some really nice filigree to add some character to it.

Catmom - every time I see a new picture of your jewelry I am just blown away - all your stuff is GORGEOUS!!!!!

Wow! Thank you all so much for your suggestions. I wasn''t sure on the metal choice yet. Although, im not sure personally, that id like the rose gold. I just usually tend to like rose gold for dark, demanding stones. Mine is quite light in IRL. *I am sorry for dashing your ideas

It would probably be something gold (As was all her jewelry). Her style was quite bold, and big. Each piece is solid gold with thick designs, and very heavy! Also they usually had some type of a floral theme to them as well. So, perhaps i will have to look more into some filigree pieces, with a lil bling on the sides of course!

Stryeyes, I think a floral theme or filigree would be great!
