Shall I switch to a plain band?

I currently wear my e-ring and wedding band (a full eternity) on my left hand, but I''m considering purchasing a plain platinum band and switching my eternity to my right hand.

My e-ring is a 1.3 rb, E, VVS1, H&A, in a low Tiffany setting. My eternity ring is bezel set, and about 2.2 ctw (the stones are G, SI1). As you can imagine, my e-ring gets lost in the sparkle of the eternity band sometimes.

Would switching to a plain band make my e-ring stone look bigger or smaller? Hard to visualise, I know, but the eternity ring is almost twice the thickness of my e-ring band. (And my ring size is 4.25, if that makes any difference.)

That''s the size of my left ring finger too! I think it sounds like a good idea. Most people think that a plain band will make the e-ring diamond "pop" more. (By most people I mean most people in the real world; on Pricescope there is no such thing as too many diamonds.) The more metal, the more it''ll set off your stone. And your wedding band is twice the width of the e-ring? That does sound a little overpowering. And if sometimes you don''t feel like wearing the whole set, you could slip the eternity band back on your left hand so your wedding ring is a little more substantial. Just my humble opinion.

.... we really need to see those

That w-band sounds like the greatest "right hand ring" as they call ''em these days!

You don''t have to SWITCH to a plain band, you can just ADD a plain band. That way you can choose what you want to wear on any given day. I have a three stone ring that I sometimes wear with a plain 2mm band and other times with my 12 stone anniversary band. OR I wear it on my right hand alone. I like the idea of having lots of options.

You might try all three on your finger with the plain band in between the eternity and the engagement ring. Maybe a bit of space between the two will help the e-ring "pop."

Some great ideas. I''m not sure the three rings would fit, however. I miscalculated my ring size (I''m British) and I''m actually only a US 3.75!

I''ll see if I can figure out my digital camera and then I''ll post some pics.

I agree w/the others. Purchase the plain wedding band and wear this when you please and wear your eternity band when you feel like it. It''s fun to mix and match depending upon mood. Wedding bands are SO cheap compared to what your 1.3 carat was, so why not spend the couple hundred extra and get another ring!!!

That''s what Id suggest as well. That''s what Im probably going to do if my e-ring gets "lost".

hi! ursulawrite

I have .25 point wedding band with E-ring
however I just switched to .080 pointer eternity band
you can see how makes the e-ring diffrent.

I was told .08 point makes my e-ring more bigger.

I say go for the plain band! I have one, and I wear it a lot with my solitaire. Sometimes I wear it with one of several diamond band rings, sometimes I stack the plain band, a diamond band, and my solitaire. And sometimes I just like to wear the plain band all by itself. I''m like Patty, I like lots of options.

Something else for you to consider. Sometimes the wider plain bands really show off your ering. Mine is a 6mm band and it really makes for an elegant look with my solitaire. Sometimes I think the same thing as you guys...my solitaire just doesn''t "pop" when I''m wearing it with a diamond band. Sure, it looks really blingy to have all those diamonds on one finger, but the solitaire can often just get lost in there somewhere. My mom has a 10 mm gold band. I''ve tried it on with my solitaire and it really looks fantastic. I''m tempted to get one sometimes, but I''m kinda sentimental about my 6mm band. It''s my original wedding ring and my husband has one to match it.

I am probably going to buy a plain platinum band to wear with my eternity on my left hand and only add my e-ring on special occasions

Here is yet another option. With a set like this, one can wear an e-ring alone, with a plain band, or with the wraps. This is similar to what Patty suggested, but not exactly the same thing. It would entail making wraps, not just buying a plain band, though. On the other hand, if your current eternity band is on your right hand, you can have the look that you currently have on your left hand (by wearing the eternity band there) or you can just add a plain band!

I love it when we all start to give someone ideas on how to solve a five year old problem! Flower12 bumped this. Perhaps she had her own reasons? Flower12 are you considering a change in the way you wear your ring(s)?

Deb :-)

Oh well, at least it''s better than starting yet ANOTHER new thread on a topic already discussed.
