I just saw it on The View. It''s a 6 carat cushion cut stone that looked to be on a split shank pave'' band. It looked pretty darned huge on her hand when they showed a close-up. I had been wanting to get a glimpse of that ring, I had heard about it on the news, but had yet to see a picture. Has anyone seen a good picture of the ring to post or share a link to?

I will be very interested to see how long this relationship will last. It seems like these two people lead very different lifestyles, both in the spotlight. I have to say, I used to be a really big fan of Lance Armstrong''s and followed his battle with testicular cancer closely. I really admired him, as well as his ex-wife Kristen. She really stood by him through all of that. They had banked some of Lance''s sperm before he underwent the treatment for his cancer, and afterward they used the sperm via invitro fertilization to have his three children. I think that the youngest child is only 4 years old now. It was almost immediately after their divorce was announced that he and Sheryl went public with their relationship. I had read where they met at some charity event and flirted with each other via their blackberrys.

Sounds like quite an auspious beginning to a relationship, doesn''t it? Lance lives in Texas, and spends a great deal of his time in Spain at his training center, while Sheryl lives and works out of NYC. I thought that maybe his retirement would bode well for their relationship, but I heard on the radio a couple of weeks ago that he is considering either A) coming out of retirement or B) running for governor of Texas...lol! Stay tuned, folks!

Here is a picture of Sheryl performing recently on GMA. Not a good picture of the ring, but you get an idea of the size of the rock!

Lance met his wife after he finished cancer treatments and started dating her several months later. *He* banked his sperm before he even met her.

WhenI read his bio, it said that he had been diagnosed with testicular cancer which had metastasized to his lung and brain in 1996. He met his wife Kristen in 1997, and they were married in 1998. Two years later they had their first child which was born after invitro fertilization with his frozen sperm. From everything I know about cancer (particularly testicular cancer which has mets to the lung and brain) it probably took more than a year to complete his treatements and recovery. I was a pretty big cycling fan back in the those days, and followed Lance''s career. I remember seeing interviews and reading articles about him and his foundation, and he used to give a lot of credit to his wife for standing by him during his recovery and his training for the Tour de France.

I''m not slamming Lance and Sheryl or anything. I do think it will be interesting to see how well this relationship pans out for him, though. I remember reading that it was the stress that his recovery and cycling career had on his first marriage that unltimately caused the end of the relationship. It was kind of sad, considering that they had the three kids together and all they went through to have them. Maybe Sheryl will have better luck dealing, since she also has a career that takes up much of her time and keeps her away from home a great deal. I''ve read where she does follow him around and travels to a his events and appearances quite often.

I''m only reiterating what he and his mother said when interviewed by Oprah. In response to the massive speculation that his wife nursed him through cancer treatments and chemo only to be dumped for Sheryl Crow, he said that it was in fact, his *mother* who was caring for him during his treatments, since she was the closest to him, and that he did not even meet his future wife until after the last treatment was done. This was from their mouths, not a third party journalist. Was he still *recovering* after the last treatment? I''m sure he was.

Since I don''t know the Amrstrongs, I don''t assume anything about the demise of their marriage, other than what either of them care to share publically. I can only imagine that rebounding from cancer and reentering public life as a celebrity athlete can be a difficult road for the partner.

I wasn''t assuming anything about the demise of the Armstrong''s marriage, either. All anyone knows about it is what they tell us publicly, anyway. There is always more than one side to a story. As far as I know, his ex hasn''t made any public statements other than to say that it was a combination of stress from his recovery and his training schedule that put strain on the marriage. I just remembered when they were married, and he was deemed to be cancer free, there was a lot written about him. Not only is he a phenom in the cycling world, but he''s also been deemed a phenom in medical circles, too, because of the way he over came his cancer and how well he withstood the treatments. Many people don''t have that level of success in battling cancer. I remember in several articles I read where he talked about his wife, and all the support he got from her (and others). There was a lot written about them having kids, too. I think it was to inspire other couples who''ve dealt with this particular type of cancer to see that it''s still possible to have a family. Two of their kids are twins (I''m not sure if they are the older children or the younger children). Lance is seen as somewhat of a miracle man and a great source of inspiration to a lot of people with cancer, as well as an idol for a lot of people in the cylcling world. I have to admit, I was disappointed when I learned that they were getting divorced. I had followed both his cycling career and his recovery from cancer and I have been a fan. I always hate to see a marriage end, especially one with kids. They weren''t really even married that long, either. It was kind of sad.

That being said, I''ve always been a fan of Sheryl Crow''s, too. I hope they make a success of this relationship and that it doesn''t succumb to the same fate as so many of the other celeb relationships.

Back to the ring...has anyone seen a good picture?

Lance credits his first wife with helping him get back into competive shape to race again. I believe that he had finished his treatment but was trying to find sponsors. I''m not a huge fan of autobiographies but I have read his book, "It''s Not About the Bike" and I found it to be very interesting. He goes over in great detail all the events of that time. The book ends at the birth of his first son Luke.

I haven''t read his book, but I have read a lot about his cycling career and there was a lot written about his cancer and recovery in the medical journals. Supposedly he has some kind of unusually efficient anaerobic metabolism or something, possibly because of the intense training he''s undergone to be a competetive cyclist. Researchers have speculated that his unique physical condition had been a major contributing factor to his phenominal recovery from cancer. Testicular cancer can be a particularly varacious type of cancer, especially when it has metastisized. I was kind of fascinated with reading about him when that al happened.

There is no doubt Lance has a touch of OCD competiveness.
He would be hard to kill. he worked very hard to survive; very few people would work that hard (in an iron lung).
