Shoe Question: How high is this shoe?

So I''m thinking about getting these shoes...but I''m confused about how high they actually are.
Zappos says that they have a 3 3/4" heel and a 1/2" platform...Does that mean they are actually 4 1/4" tall? Or do you just go by the heal height?

I want to wear a nice height heel but I don''t want to be too tall. FI is on the shorter side (about 5''10") and I dont'' really want to look taller then him...I''m about 5''4". I''d like to stay at least an inch maybe 2 below him...

I''m having such a hard time finding shoes...and these are as close as I can get to what I''m picturing.

It means the heel is 3 3/4 high and the platform in the front is 1/2 inch high. So it feels like a 3 1/4 high heel, even though it looks like it's 3 3/4 inches high.

Also, it depends on what your shoe size is. A size 10 will have a higher heel than the same shoe in a size 6 so that it looks right proportionally.

So what size do you wear?

ETA: the measurements are normally taken on a 7 or 7.5 size shoe.
 
Freke is the better woman to answer this, but I think you go by the heel? The platform just means that the arch is less...pronounced? Harsh? My brain just collapsed. Hahaha.

I wear between a 6 1/2 or 7...so I guess I''d probably just get the 7 to be safe

Ok then...so at the end of the day I'll only be 3 3/4" taller...which is more then 2" inches shorter then FI, which is what I want. Sooooo should I get um? Do you think they go with my dress?

I love shoes I just can never tell if they'll actually look good...and then I talk myself out of it for fear that I'm making a horrible decision and I can find something better...

ETA: I need second, third and fourth opinions

Those were my original choice for my shoe until I found the Martinez Valero Olivia.

The Nina were stunning!!!!! I loved them so much, but the MV were my dream shoe. The Nina ones actually have customization on their website where you can customize the color of the shoe. It's really cool. Linky

Thanks for the suggestions Princess...I went straight to the Nina website to see I could get some of them in purple and for some reason it doesn''t have that color as an option...I don''t know why I can get the Electra one''s in purple on Zappos...

I really want to get purple shoes...Our wedding colors are eggplant, silver and black...and I think colored shoes is a fun detail that people always seem to get a kick out of...

If anyone has any purple shoe suggestions send them my way...I guess I REALLY don''t have to make a decision for another couple weeks but the earlier the better right?!?

What shade of purple? Did you wanna stick with the eggplant, or a brighter purple?

I really do like the Nina''s I just haven''t been able to find anything in the purple that I like so I don''t have anything to compare them too...and I''m not very good at internet searches so...well you get the idea.

My first choice is to stick to the dark eggplant purple. I like the idea of having some sort of embellishment on them...like the bow for example on the Nina''s...or maybe something sparkly with the purple to incorporate the silver wedding color?? I can''t spend a bunch of money on them sadly...I think $200 would be my absolute most...and that''s if I REALLY loved them...

YAY, I''m excited now....If anyone can find the perfect shoe it''s a PS lady!!

You can also customize a shoe to whatever color you want on Nina's website.
 
The customizable Ninas are priced at $200 fyi.

I''ll do a shoe search in a bit. Purple is a harder choice to come by though. That and green...which is why I like go buy them both when I find them...
 
More of a pinker purple, but has silver mixed in: Nine West $80

Pinker purple, medium tone, cool detail: Pura Lopez $215

Eggplant, rosette detail, half d''orsay: Nina $70

Crazy metallic purple peeptoe: Hollywould $217

These can all be found for cheaper on Amazon probably--although some are newer shoes, so those will be around the same price...

Princess I really like the Kyleen...they''re really cute...I think I''m going to have some deciding problems. And I LOVE the Guess one''s...but I think your right about the color...a little too purple...

Also I went to where you can customize a shoe on Nina''s site and I couldn''t find where I could make any of the shoes an eggplant purple...

I have the crazy metallic Hollywoulds. They are FABULOUS--even better in real life. Lol. I think I like the ones you originally posted the most to be honest...

ETA: it looks like the closest you can get to the eggplant color is "wine luster satin", which looks more burgundy than anything else. Voting again for the first pair.
 
AMS, the Martinez Valero ones are incredible!!!!!!!!! They're super purple though!

Looking on Nina's site, I found a few more. The customization feature doesn't have purple

Lol. I will...eventually. I''ve been totally slacking in the taking shoe pictures department lately--mostly because my kitchen table is where I take my shoe pics, and it''s currently covered in wedding stuff and engagement presents. So yeah.

MOH shoes...Chrys in black. I''ll attach a pic...

Let me explain a little bit (sorry for the threadjack AMS!) My MOH is 5''6, her BF is 5''7. She''s really self-conscious about it, and he''s even MORE self conscious about it. So the heel maximum height is 2.5 inches so she doesn''t tower over him. She says it''s a comfort thing since we will be walking all over Vegas, but I know better. Anyway, so I''ve been trying to find a pair of CUTE (she''s just as big of a high heeled shoe whore as I am--just not around her BF) SHORT heels--and it was next to impossible. All short heels are thick heeled, somewhat frumpy shoes, and NOT what we had in mind AT ALL. Anyway so I happened across the Nina site, and found these--a couple of weeks ago.

And they are PERFECT. Black, CUTE, NOT FRUMPY, AND they go PERFECTLY with my shoes (a pic of which will be in the next post).

I actually have those shoes! In white though (and in black because they were so gorgeous I needed to get 2 pairs). They are 3 3/4, and super comfortable. And they were a HUGE hit. About a zillion people told me how gorgeous they were. For the price I reccommend them 130%
