Shopping for a band to be spacer or to be worn as wedding band. French cut? Princess? Pave?

Hi friends. I'm in the process of upgrading my e-ring to a 1.6 WF ACA in the Valoria 6 prong setting, however I'm realizing that my current exposed girdle eternity band isn't going to work next to this new setting. I have a plain spacer band coming but I'm using this as an opportunity to add to the stack.

Some things I'm thinking about:
Current eternity band is 2mm wide and 2 mm high which is very comfortable so something similar in size would be great except it seems more channel set are a lot thicker?
Don't want to take away from solitaire
What sparkles the most? I love the idea of a different shaped diamond for this new band like a baguette but I have been told they get dull quick. So maybe French cut is better? Pave? Dot and dash?
New band could either be stacked with eternity or worn with just the e-ring

Looking for recommendations/advice so I don't purchase another chainsaw...

But here are some I've been looking at but also I saw someone had DK fabricate a custom very thin french cut emerald band

What a fun project!

Have you tried on French cuts in person? You asked what sparkles the most, and I'd have to say French cuts shimmer more than sparkle. elizat wrote this a while back which I completely agree with.

Yes. This. You have to like rose cuts to like french cuts, in my mind. I have owned both and I would equate the performance of a nice rose cut to a nice french cut. They are quiet and glisten or appear like pastel tones reflecting off water, almost. They appear much different in person v photos. If you don't like rose cuts, I think it's doubtful you'd like a french cut band.

I have never seen them in person, no! Only admired online. I have seen a dot/dash in person and I did really like this. I also love the baguette only but I've read/heard they just don't sparkly much..

I think French cuts are gorgeous, of course, and the channel setting would be great for protecting your e-ring. The dot/dash is great too.

Do you like other alternating shapes like this?

Or rounds (so you get maximum sparkle) but in an interesting shape?

I like that first one a lot. Although I wasn’t sure if the miligrain would cause issues too? I really like the dot dash and it doesn’t appear to have an exposed girdle? I just am also kicking myself for not knowing the issues with these exposed girdles

This Etsy shop is well liked here on PS. Maybe some more options.

Milgrain wouldn't cause issues because metal touching metal is okay. I don't see an exposed girdle on the dot/dash.

Thank you! That’s good to know about miligrain.

I would try to choose channel or bead set for example as they both have smooth edges on both sides to protect the ering and wedding band. Any of those that have flat edges on both sides should work well. Baguettes and French cuts give shimmer but not much sparkle; round cuts still generally win in the sparkle category between the three.

I have to look around more for bead set,
I haven’t seen too many of those.

Hi friends. I got some pictures back from WF today of the valoria stacked with a chainsaw ring (lol) and a band I inquired about. I don’t have a lot of real estate on my fingers so I worry the thicker one will look off. I could always just wear that full time and stack my eternity band just sometimes.

What do you think? Do either look ok? Do they take away from the solitaire? 5C96205C-0734-41F6-B146-F62EE7DAAFCA.jpeg

I don’t think the spacer band takes away as much from the solitaire (is that your new ring?!) as it does from the shared prong ring. If you are looking for a true spacer, I would go with a very narrow one. If you are going for a stacked look, they could work together.

I guess I'm trying to find the best of both worlds! Something that acts as a spacer or the stacked look. I want it all! lol.

And that is the Valoria with a similarly sized diamond, not my ring though I'm still waiting for her :(

I did order a very thin rose gold band so I'll at least have something.

I really love the thinner one a lot but Liza warned that it may not be protecting it as much, which is something to consider. I do think thats a pretty look though. And actually I wonder if that thin band would look nice with just the solitaire for a daily look.

The rose gold one could look beautiful between the two rings. I understand what she is saying about the protection but if it at least keeps the prongs away from the diamond edges of the shared prong, you should be good to go. I am assuming if you order one and don’t like it you can return it?

Wondering if anyone has bought a pave or channel set band from WF or BN and can give feedback if it’s comfortable or not? I’m tempted by the Rivera from BN but I had a pave ring from berricle (CZ not diamonds) and it was really not comfy between the fingers..and if I do a half ring I worry it’ll spin.

Yes except on eternity bands! Or custom made products. Like they have several bands in 18k I really like, but my e-ring is 14k so I don't know if I can mix the two? And if I have it custom made in 14k its not returnable :(

I did see this on Blue Nile though and I wish there were pictures of it next to a 6 prong.

I'm trying to keep myself distracted while waiting for my new e-ring!
