Should I be worried?

Hello! My original ER was bought in 2019. After the pandemic yes I gained a lot of weight. I’m thinking of asking my local jewelrs where we bought it from to make the setting bigger- from a size 6.25 to a size 8. The diamond is 1.01 in weight. The setting is an AJAFFE 18K white gold trellis solitaire setting. It is 3.8mm in the middle, tapering down to 3.6mm at the bottom. So it is more thick than your average setting. I do have insurance on my ring. I’m worried the gold being stretched from a 6.25 to an 8 is too much and it will damage the gold in the setting. Should I worry, is 6.25-8 too much and I shouldn’t take the chance, and buy a new setting that fits my size 8 finger now? I would rather keep my original setting that I love so I don’t want it to get damaged. Opinions? Thanks! I will attach a pic of the actual setting. DB54FB82-3E34-43D2-8929-D446C53F6C89.jpeg

There should be no issues at all in resizing -- the shank is plain metal (no diamond pave), quite substantial in width and thickness, and the resizing is within 2 sizes -- of course this assumes an reliable experienced bench person performs the work.

Your jeweler won't "stretch" your ring. He will add gold and solder it back together. You shouldn't even be able to see it. It should cost $50or $60, call around if you don't like the price from your jeweler just to be sure. But don't replace your ring! That isn't necessary at all!

@Lisa Murphy thank you so much! I didn’t know the process so great info for me to know!! Thanks

I didn't realize in your previous threads that your hesitation about sizing your ring was you thought it would be stretched and thinned out! Like @Lisa Murphy said, you shouldn't even be able to tell it was done at all with a decent jeweler. Your band is ideal actually, as there is no pavè that could be compromised.

Have it sized (my jeweler does it in 30 minutes while I wait!) and put that diamond ring that your fiancé is very proud of back on your finger.

Your setting is pretty, but what happened to the halo one you bought for 213 a few weeks back? Did you change your mind about using it?

@Lschneids01 Most* PSers would have resized their ring by now and be done with it. It can be resized smaller in the future.
Take it back to the original jeweler to have it resized (if you still live nearby).

You are on your 5th thread basically about the same issue of your ring. You need to stick with one thread to keep on the
info in the same place.

My advice...resize your current aJaffe setting.
