Hi everyone,

I apologize for any confusion in advance. It does seem very confusing after I re-read my post…blame it on the huge Thanksgiving dinner (with wine and mixed drink…). https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/please-help-me-choose-another-rolex.130492/ Again, I apologize for any confusion which I might have caused. Since I am unable to edit or delete the title or its contents, please allow to post a new thread.

I am currently considering purchasing another rolex. Is the 26mm and the 29mm too similar, should I consider the 34mm instead, or even branch out to another brand?

I currently have a two tone Rolex Oyster Perpetual Lady Datejust which was purchased about 11 years ago. It is 26mm in diameter with stainless steel case, 18K yellow gold fluted bezel, silver Jubilee dial, diamond hour markers, stainless steel and 18K yellow gold Oyster bracelet. I am currently interested in purchasing a Rolex Oyster Perpetual Lady-Datejust Masterpiece Pearlmaster. It is 29mm in diameter with 18K white gold case, bezel set with 12 diamonds, white mother of pearl dial, diamond hour markers and pearlmaster bracelet.

The pros on the 29mm:
1. I fell in love with this watch the first time I saw someone wearing it and have been dreaming of owning one for a while
2. Its style is very classic which I can wear for a very long, long time.
3. Although it is slightly larger than the current one I own (26mm) yet I can still distinguish the different in size
4. It’s one color (18k white gold) instead of two tone (18k yellow gold with stainless steel) which creates a completely different look (imo)
5. Rolex has better retained value than most other brands
6. I tried on both the 29mm and the 34mm, I personally like the 29mm on me since I have a pretty small wrist (5.5”)
7. The 29mm seems more feminine than the 34mm (again, imo) and my style is very feminine and I am pretty petite (5’5”, 112lbs)

The pros on the 34mm:

1. It’s very popular and stylish with the celebrities (big watches are “in”)
2. It creates a substantial difference in looks (from the bezel wise) from the current one I have (26mm vs. 34mm) so people will notice I am wearing a different watch even far away

The cons on the 34mm:

1. It’s very popular and stylish now but I am afraid it’s only a trend which might fade
2. It costs a few thousands more than the 29mm (which I can use toward another watch - a Chopard Happy Sports or a cartier, new purses, shoes, clothes, etc…)
3. It won’t look “right” on me to wear a “Big” watch when I am older (in 60s, 70s, or 80s) (again, only imho)

I guess my ultimate question is whether the 26mm and the 29mm are too similar to a point where people might think I am just wearing the same watch (if so, there’s no point in purchasing another rolex since it will be a very significant purchase for me). I got this notion because when I went and tried on the watch (the 29mm), my sister whom accompanied me stated that my 26mm and the 29mm looked the same, she also stated that I should either get the 34mm or branch out to different brand.

All the rolex experts (or non) out there, please help. Thanks a million!!

BTW, I hope this time my post is clearer.

BTW, thank you Pink! Thank you for your opinion AND the attempt of tyring to understand my previous thread.

I do not wear watches (tell time from my cell). Have a nice one lying around, never used. If I buy another watch, it will be Rolex Datejust mid size (29mm), SS/white gold with diamond dials. The one that you are considering fits my desired spec., so you know what I am going to advise you to get. Definitely get the 29mm size (we have similar small size wrists). Why? Same reasons as you stated.

1. 29mm is the perfect size for our wrist size. Big enough for us to see the dials and tell time, but small enough not to look too overwhelming. The size is also dainty enough to be TIMELESS. Remember, we buy Rolex becasue it retains value and we want to keep it foreever.

2. The 34mm size (or 35mm other Rolex style), on the other hand, looks sporty, and is more "everyday" type. The casual look does not go with the more classy diamond dials and/or crown (although some rich people do not care and have diamonds on everything).

3. Price - Why pay extra for no good reasons?

To answer your other question about the look of your current watch vs. that of new watch, I think the SS/WG looks different than you SS/yellow gold, based on color alone (even if you can''t see a difference based on size).

In conclusion, get the 29mm mid size ladies Datejust with the diamond dials.

Too pricey for what it is.
