OK, so I'm one of the few hold-outs . . . I do not yet own a pair of Uggs!!! And yes, I do live under a rock! LOL!

My grandmother gave me a $50 Victoria's Secret gift card for Christmas. I do like to shop at VS, but I don't think there's anything I really *need* from there right now. But I've been considering buying a pair of Uggs, because I live on the MD/PA border and it gets COLD and NASTY here in the winter!
14.gif

So, here's the Ugg page on the VS website. Of the Uggs that they carry, the ones that look the most appealing to me are, in no particular order:

1. Ultimate Tall Braid Boot in either Chestnut or Chocolate,

2. Classic Tall Boot in either Chestnut, Chocolate or Sand, and

3. Classic Tall Wool Boot in Chocolate.

I would like to be able to wear them in snowy weather if possible, and I do plan to purchase the Sheepskin Care Kit to keep them as waterproof as possible. Also, if it helps, I'm pretty short (about 5'4"), to give you some perspective as to how they'd look on me. BTW, I would probably wear them rolled down at least some of the time, so they wouldn't make me look *too* short (hopefully).

So, my questions for all you Ugg-lovers out there are: Which of those three styles would you recommend and why? Or is there a different style available through VS that you would recommend instead and why? Which color should I go with and why? Since I usually wear a size 8 (sometimes a 7.5), and since they supposedly run big, I should order a size 7, correct? And is there anything else I should know before I buy a pair? Thanks in advance!

Hi Emm!

Im a HUGE fan of UGG- I totally live in them all winter!!! I have several different styles and I wear all of them!!! Out of the choices you posted, I would go with the classic tall first, since it goes with everything and is just a classic style. Also, this year I purchased a pair of grey Cardy's:

http://www2.victoriassecret.com/commerce/onlineProductDisplay.vs?namespace=productDisplay&origin=onlineProductDisplay.jsp&event=display&prnbr=EH-242667&page=1&cgname=OSSHUDESUGG&rfnbr=4849

AND I LOVE THESE!!! They are super comfy and so cute!!! So these would be my top choice, with the second being the classic tall. I just love the knitted look of the Cardy's- they are super adorable and the grey goes with everything!!!

GOOD LUCK!!!

Thanks, Dani!

I do like the Cardys, but I don''t think they have the sheepskin lining, do they? I really want a pair with the sheepskin lining . . . it seems like it would be sooooo comfy!
4.gif

How do you usually wear your Cardys? Pulled up, scrunched down or folded over? And do they fit over jeans like the Classic Talls do? Also, have you found that the Uggs run big? What size shoe do you normally wear, and what size do you wear in Uggs? Thanks again!
35.gif

I just got my first pair, and I normally wear a 7.5 occasionally an 8, and I had FI get me an 8 because I knew I''d want to wear thick socks with them. So far, so good.

Can you go try them on somewhere to get a feel for it?

Mine are Classic Short in black btw.

I usually wear the Cardy's pulled up. They are cute, but I understand wanting that sheepskin lining!!!

Uggs run a bit big, usually Im a size 8.5, but I get my Uggs in an 8 and they fit fine. You should order a half size down from what you normally wear

Freke and Dani, thanks!

I''m thinking maybe I should order a 7 to start with, since the sheepskin will crush down a bit over time. If they''re too tight when I get them, I can always send them back and exchange them for an 8.

I''m not sure about which color to get though. I like the Sand, but I''m wondering if it would show a lot of dirt? Of course, the Chocolate or Chestnut would probably show salt stains more than the Sand would. (I do plan to waterproof them and then wear them in snowy/slushy weather.) I think I''ve pretty much decided on the Classic Tall, but does anyone have suggestions about the color?
33.gif

I own the Sand in the tall and short, if you plan to wear these out in the snow and rain I wouldn''t recommend that color (the color shows EVERYTHING). I also have a pair in Chocolate, love these but they do show the salt stains. Personally, the Chestnut is my favorite color, the chocolate being a close second.

Also, my BFF owns the ultimate tall and SWEARS by them! Personally I think if you plan on your UGGS being a snow boot, I''d get the ultimate before the classic.

I vote Chesnut and then Chocolate. I don't own either of them, but I've seen some nasty looking Sand Uggs before (when working in the shoe store and selling Uggs) and far fewer nasty looking Chesnut or Chocolate Uggs.

BTW, I got black because in New Mexico we don't have to worry about salt stains!

Thanks, ladies! I was starting to lean away from the Chocolate because of the salt stain issue. (Freke, I soooo envy the fact that you never have this problem! LOL!) I checked the VS website, and the Classic Talls are only available in Sand if I order a size 7. The Chestnut and Chocolate will be available on January 20 . . . but I don't wanna wait!!!
39.gif

The Ultimate Talls are available in both Chocolate and Chestnut in size 7, though. I'm so annoyingly indecisive!!!
20.gif

Ah, just a note, the wool ones...I haven''t heard good things about them in that they will stretch out and lose their shape and never be able to regain it...I''d stick with the Classic Tall or Ultimate Tall.

And I don''t have the salt stains FOR NOW. We''ll have to move in 2ish years when FI gets his PhD and a job, and odds are...

LOL! Freke, you''re gonna LOVE it! There''s nothing like waking up early on a Monday morning, and realizing you''ll have to clean like 18 inches of snow off your car before you can go to work. It''s GREAT!!!
3.gif

Thanks for the heads up about the wool ones. I wouldn''t have thought of that, and I would have been soooo bummed if they got all stretched out and wonky!
38.gif

My first choice would be the chestnut (goes with everything) followed by the chocolate:)

Thanks again, everyone! Since I'm not sure if I'll need a size 7 or a size 8, and since Chestnut is only available in size 8 right now and Sand is the only color currently available in size 7, I'm going to order a pair of Chestnut size 8 AND a pair of Sand size 7. That way, I can try on both colors and both sizes, and I'll just return whichever pair I decide not to keep. (Sadly, the Chocolate isn't available in either size right now or I'd probably order a Chocolate pair too!) I'll let y'all know how it goes. Thanks for your help!!!

I got my first pair of Uggs before they became fashionable. A friend told me about them and I bought a pair of black boots that came to shortly above my ankles. They were the first pair of boots that I had owned that were good in the cold and also good on icy surfaces. (I do not ski, so I am not a cold weather and snow boot aficionado.) I had always had boots that were warm, but skidded on ice, or boots with a good grip on icy surfaces in which my feet froze. The Uggs were a revelation! They were certainly not elegant, though! They weighed (and weigh) a ton, too. I still have them. I would guess that they are ten years old.

I got the second pair of Uggs, also in black, of a similar height when I got stranded in Connecticut during a snowstorm and my boots were in Virginia. Now I keep a pair of boots in each place.

For Christmas my father got me a pair of 3/4 length black Uggs that zip up the back. I haven''t yet opened the box, so I don''t know how they fit. They will look a little more fashionable and also be better in higher snow.

My daughter has tall, fashionable, Ugg boots, but then she is 17!!!

I know you already made up your mind, but I normally wear an 8, and went with the 7 and had no problems. I also bought the UGG waterproofer and it works great! The snow and gunk beads and just falls off the boot. I have the sand knightsbridge UGGS and I love em!

Enjoy your boots!

This thread got me to open the box (that had arrived in Virginia while I was in Connecticut and which I just picked up). I, also, have the Knightsbridge Uggs. I usually wear a 7 1/2 and I went with the 8 this time. It is fine in terms of comfort, but I found it hard to get the boot on and off. I am wondering if I will want to go through the trouble of putting the boot on and taking it off!

Deb & Beachrunner, thank you!
21.gif

Deb, it''s good to hear that the Uggs are so good on ice . . . I HATE ICE with a raging passion!!!
29.gif

And Beachrunner, I''m glad the Ugg waterproofer works so well. One of my main worries was how the suede would do in snow/rain, and I was hoping that the waterproofer worked well!

I did have a plan, but it didn''t work out unfortunately. By the time I went to place my order today, VS had run out of the Chestnut Classic Talls in size 8. So, I just ordered the Sand Classic Talls in size 7. Beachrunner, I''m glad to hear that a 7 fits you so well since, like you, I normally wear an 8! And I have to admit, even though the Sand color will probably be high-maintenance, I think that''s the color I wound up liking the best so I''m almost a little glad that they were out of the Chestnut ones! The 8 probably would have been too big anyway!

Mine are a little hard to get on and off, but the more I wear them, the easier it gets. I have to make sure the zipper is all the way unzipped or it is extremely difficult to get the boot on.

Yes, I def recommend the waterproofer. I put two coats on and let it dry completely before the first wear.

Ahhh, TWO coats! Good idea!

OK, they arrived yesterday and they're FABULOUS!!!

The size 7 fits perfectly . . . I'm so glad I didn't go with an 8 because I think they'd be WAY too big. And they are SOOOOOOO COMFY!!!!! I haven't worn them outside of the house yet though, because I want to make sure they're well-waterproofed first. I sprayed them with the Ugg waterproofer yesterday, and I plan to put another coat on this evening as BeachRunner suggested. Thanks again for all your help, ladies!!!

Igirl - I think we''re just the cool folks who know how REAL boots work

All jest aside, I don''t own uggs either... why? B/c I have riding boots lololololololol. I actually DID get a pair of suede non ugg boots this year. I don''t like the inner lining that much on uggs, but that''s just me.

Out of what you posted, I prefer the Braid boot, in Chocolate. I feel like Chestnut can be a little challenging at times. I got a pair for Xmas that are leather and a bit slouchy with a small heel, and I''m still experimenting with matching things up with them.

LOL! Dfly, I hear ya on the riding boots! I have a pair of Tack Classics from the Original Muck Boot Co. and I''ve been living in those this winter, whenever the snow is too deep for my Ariat paddock boots!

But, I decided to break down and finally get a pair of Uggs because I needed a warm, "civilized"

boot for cold/snowy days when I''m going to work. I wound up getting the Classic Talls in Sand and I''m loving them so far!

Glad you love your new boots!

I have a $40 VS gift card sitting in my wallet. Still trying to figure out what to buy! I almost ordered slippers.
