Save $550 for an x-mas gift that my fiance has been wanting since 04? He owns and 04 tacoma and has been wanting to do work on it (ya know boy stuff) anyways the one thing he wants cost $550 and that is a lift kit, he has always put this aside since we met and done things for "us" but I want to give him this one gift becuase I know how much it means to him. he loves his truck and me too of course but I just dont know if its feasable for me to save up that much while were planning and saving for a wedding too, He has the money to buy it himself but he wont and I cant seem to convince him to just get it, so should I just get it and suprise him at x-mas or is this a bad idea? it would sorta be like a wedding gift/graduation gift to him as well.

If you are on a tight budget, I would make it a birthday/grad/christmas/wedding present. I would just be sure that you know exactly which lift kit he wants.....if my boyfriend wanted mags, I wouldn''t be able to pick them out unless he told me which ones. Although I have to admit, I don''t know what a "lift kit" is. Body kit, yes, but not this, so just make sure you have enough info on it before you buy.

It''s a nice surprise, and probably something he''ll really appreciate.

I would do it, a little sacrifice yes, but he will be just thrilled i am sure.. just combine into one.. I had to do some savings as well for my mans toys... he is also in the market for a lift kit.. the bad thing for me is.. he wants one for his play truck and one for his landrover... i tell ya the boys and their toyes

Yes. Let me live vicariously through him.

I wanted LED tail lights for my car. Cost about $500. Had the money to buy them myself. Sacrificed it for the wedding. Let the wife get a Vera Wang dress (among other things) cuz that was her heart's desire. She mentioned getting me the lights as a wedding gift or something. Never happened. I'll never hold it against her cuz she's so wonderful and we've got more important things to spend our money on, but being a car nut, it'd be really cool to read about a bride who got her hubby a car part as a wedding gift. I doubt he'd ever get it himself cuz it sounds like he's too practical, like most guys ready to settle down are.

I think it would be a very sweet gesture. And saving the $$ over a few months would make it hurt less.

you guys are so funny you make me feel like a hero haha ive been talking to a few people about it and it looks like ill be able to get him started with a lift becuase according to some people $600 isnt enough to get the whole thing.............

anyways i know he will be happy either way, and I know if i save up the money for it he will be proud haha (im not the saver he is) but I f i just give him the money for it he will just save it and still never get it like you said practical.....

I think it''s a very thoughtful idea.

Besides, who am I to say? I got DH a new xbox 360 as a xmas/bday/wedding gift... he uses it all the time... hehe. If you know he''s gonna use and love it, I say go for it!

I would definitely do it, I think it is wonderful for the guy to have a special gift anyway '' just because'' even if not for the wedding, so if you can save up and afford to do it then why not if it would make him happy?

very sweet indeed!
