I have yet another question about kitty for all of you kitty lovers/experts. My kitty eats Wellness wet food, and a little Wellness Core dry food when we aren''t home during the day. While he likes his food and has been doing really well on it, he seemed to be getting a little bored of it (even though we feed like different varieties every day). So since I had heard so many good things about Innova Evo, I thought why not let him try that. I have never seen my kitty act so crazy. It''s as if his energy level is off the charts. He''s bouncing off the walls literally. He''s also being really destructive and biting far more than usual. Has anyone heard of it causing that kind of reaction? Thanks for your help. Here''s a picture of what I woke up to this morning...

sap - I''ve certainly not heard of any particular behavior changes with Evo specifically. My only thought is that sometimes when they get a better diet their energy improves, but it sounds like he was on a good diet to begin with. My other thought is that Evo is very high in calories because its so concentrated, so maybe he''s getting a little too much and is reacting by burning it off.

My other thought is age - is this the 7 month old kitty? If so, that''s a prime age for craziness. All three of ours went through their super crazy destructive phases mostly between 6-7 months and about a year, sometimes a bit older. After that they settled down considerably.

Sorry I can''t give more specific help than that. If kitty is otherwise healthy and you want to keep him on this food, maybe try just feeding a little less of it and also giving more play time to wear him out? The laser pointer can be good for this - you can just sit or stand and have them chase it all over, it really wears them out.

Whoa! That was ONE busy kitty!!!

(Sorry, but I just had to chuckle... the kitty-lovers here have all *been there/done that!* with our own sweet and silly furbabies!)

I''m with AG... can''t think of any reason to believe the EVO "did that" to him

... and like she said, it''s not like getting wholesome, delicious, nutritious food was NEW to him... so honestly, I think it''s just a crazy coincidence, and his um, er, *active*

behavior is just a healthy, happy, active cat doing what they do!

LOVE the picture!

He likes his new food and was making confetti to let you know!

Ah, I can only laugh WITH you on this one!

We feed all of our kitties Innova and Wellness, but we haven''t noticed any changes in behavior after eating the Innova.

If you''re looking for a new food option, we also feed them Insight, which is great, too.

Gorgeous kitty!

I just can''t stop laughing at the picture! I tried stepping away from it three times and I STILL bust out with the giggles! I have 2 puppies who have done some "artwork" like this before. Its so cute, its hard to get mad!!

That''s funny, kitty is just having fun. Does your kitty like to play in boxes or paperbags?

I love love love that picture-he looks so cheeky!

Unless as AmberGretchen said, that he''s taken in more calories and has just lots of energy to burn, I doubt it would be the food. It sounds like he''s just being a bold cheeky kitten

Ha, yes I actually DID laugh over his use of our toilet paper after I got over the initial shock that my precious little furbaby had behaved badly. FI left if for me to see when I woke up. I figured I'd ask about the food, because I couldn't come up with another reason. We fed him Wellness last night and this morning and he's acting like himself again. Not to make an experiment of it, but I'll give him some more Evo tonight and see if his behavior changes. I'm fairly certain that you're all right though, he's just being a 7 month old kitty! VegasAngel, yes! He loves to play in bags and boxes. In fact I was laughing this morning b/c I put an empty box w/ plastic from Poland Springs water bottles on the floor to throw out and he's been using it like a little tent.

ETA: Bee- he is cheeky! Anytime her does something bad, he knows it and will wait for you to see it and give you a look that says "what are you going to do about it." He's too funny.

I use Evo too! I haven''t noticed behavior like this in my cats or dogs, mind you they are all middle age now. I miss those fun unexpected moments.

One thought though, the Evo is almost all protein, could this be bringing out the animal in him?

He''s very cute, and in time he will pass this phase, and you''ll have fun memories.. Enjoy.

This never happened to my kitty but she''s a lazy fat a$$ who would never dream of doing something other than eating, sleeping, or pooping.

Oh my gosh, that picture actually made me LOL... and that doesn't happen often!!

He definitely could have been feeling a bit more energized from the healthy new food, but Wellness is reallly healthy as well, so I can't imagine it would have made THAT degree of difference. I think the "7 month crazies" explanation makes sense... or maybe a combination of both. But I can't wait to hear how your experiment turns out!

ETA -- My kitty is 4.5 years old and she still hasn't lost that craziness. She is constantly flying around the apartment, leaping over furniture, playing with everything in sight. I think some cats just have it built into their personality!

I just had to come back to see this picture again. It''s priceless!

Hehehe I had one like that where my puppy destroyed a roll of TP. It was too funny, she just looked so proud of herself.
