Very interesting inclusion.![]()
Hi,
I bought this natural diamond recently (graded: G, S1, 1.07 carat)
Is it fair for an S1 diamond to have an inclusion this large? Should I be worried about the imperfection?
Who graded it ? What is the report number

Did the diamond come with a GIA grading certificate? Did you know about it see this inclusion before purchase?

I think at best it's a GIA Si2 ~ If you're in the US it's unlikely that a legit 1.07 ct G 3X Si1 would have made it over here without a Third Party Gem Lab Report... Was it a pre-owned and they lost the report or are you overseas in a market with access to ungraded stones ?
Not with a GIA one, no, but a 'personalised appraisal'.
I purchased this from a family friend of 20+ years.
It was described as being 'triple excellent parameters' (plus a lot of other verbiage).
And I didn't notice it before. Perhaps the lighting wasn't right.
She also said the following:
"Yes, clarity is SI 1. Meaning with 10x magnification in specific diamond grading light a grader would be able to see 1 inclusion. My engagement ring is SI 1 as are most- but keeping triple ex cut parameters the sparkle & brilliance are so strong & vivid SI 1 is perfectly fine."
Safe to say I can see the inclusion without 10x magnification!
Is it clean? Om the picture it looks dirty. Maybe it is simply dirt. Diamonds attract dirt easily.
ohhhh no. Basically this person didn't tell you the truth. It's not an SI1. not with that giant visible inclusion.
What did you pay for the stone? Did you have a low budget you needed to stick with and wanted a 1 carat stone (no judgement)?
Just trying to figure out what might have gone wrong.
I paid £4,100 for the ring altogether.
I am not sure what the cost of these things were, and my budget was not particularly rigid. I went the seller as they were a close family friend and thought they'd steer me in the right direction (I know nothing about diamonds etc)
Sorry, however, that is overpriced for a second-hand ring, even if it is Platinum, IMHO.
HOWEVER, that is not uncommon for UK prices and I am based in the UK.
Hence I have not bought any fine jewellery in the UK for over 20 years except for one branded bracelet.
