Shoulda stayed in bed

I am having a poop day.

It all started yesterday with my pup Dean. He had his hip reconstruction about 7 weeks ago and is doing great. BUT, the day I picked him up from the vets I noticed a tail injury. I took him straight back and the vet concurred that it appeared as if his tail had been slammed in the door. Fast forward to lunch yesterday the end of his tail is hanging off. I called the vet when I got back to work and then went ahead and made plans to take him in. By the time I got out to the house the 4 inches (plus a couple of inches of hair) is gone and his tail is a bloody mess. I was PI$$ED.

Anyway, he is having surgery to shaved of some more tail bone so they can stitch it closed and in addition to his crate stay til April he now has to wear an elizabethan collar till this tail heals.

As if he hasn't endured enough.

So I am getting ready this morning and flossing my teeth and *pop* a filling flies out.

You have got to be kidding me.

On the way to the clinic I notice my clutch on my car feels like its going out.

It's raining 31 degrees, my dogs at the vet, my mouth is numb and I wish I woulda stayed in bed

I hope he feels better soon, that''s just awful.
I would be LIVID if my dog was hurt by someone else and they did not notify me AT ONCE.

The tip 4 inches is physically gone, leaving a bloody end with the bone sticking out.

They had to do the surgery to cover the exposed bone.

His tail was darn cute too, I loved his white tip.

Aww, I am so sorry that you are having a poopy day, I hope that it gets better for you very soon!

My sisters'' dog (she has since passed on, not related to the injury) had a tail injury. My other sister stepped on her tail and broke it. They bandaged it up and she went about her doggy business. One day she was out in the back yard, taking care of some other doggy business, she was excitedly wagging her tail, and about 4" of it (bandage and all) just flew off! It was gross, but she was fine.

Ivanna sorry to hear about your little Dean''s trouble and about your dental issues.I sincerely hope that it all resolves positively really soon.Yes if your crystal ball was not cloudy you would have stayed in bed for sure.Mine has been cloudy also, otherwise we would have made better decisions..Thinking of you...

Oh, what a poor little buddy! I can''t believe they did that to him at the VET of all places! GRRRR! I like his white tip, too.

Oh well, now he''ll have a fun short tail and I bet it will look cute.

Oh I''m so sorry!

My mother shut their cat Gus''s tail in the door by mistake a couple of years ago.

It just took the fur and skin off the last 2 0r 3 inches, but the vet had to amputate a lot more to tidy it up.

It was so sad, he''s a chocolate point siamese and one of the very long thin ones and his tail was enormously long. It''s now normal cat size.

He''s not bothered at all - but my mother still feels guilty everytime she looks at it.
